Finally got it solved by Changing(Hardcode) the NIC Speed to 100 MBpS from Auto on https://communities.vmware.com/thread/295110?tstart=0 the Physical system. Related Tagged with: cloning • converter • failed • p2v • vmware • vmware converter Ben im going to try this, i appreciate posting your experience Rajeev Hi Ben, Hope this helped you. ][Q][ I'm having the same problem, and tried your suggestion without any luck - however, i wanted to clarify that I am understanding you correctly. When you say http://geekcubo.com/2011/11/vmware-converter-failed-clone-volume-c/ you changed (hard coded) the NIC speed to 100MBps on the physical system, do you mean on the physical NIC of the machine that is being converted, the server, or the machine that is handling the conversion? also, can you confirm if your machines are on a 100MBps network or a 1GBps network? in my scenario, my network is 1GBps, but I have the physical machine that is being cloned on a 100MBps switch - so the ESXi server AND the machine running the standalone converter are connected to each other @ 1GBps, but the machine that is being converted is connected to both @ 100MBps because it is behind that switch. I also have two options on the NIC - 100MBps Full Duplex or Half Duplex. I picked Full Duplex, and retried the conversion - but it still failed with the exact same error message you described above. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks! ][Q][ Rajeev Welcome! Could you check hardcoding the switch port also to 100MBps Full duplex? Thanks Paal Sandlund THANKS INDEED!! YEP IT WORKED!! 😀 Joe This worked for me too… Thanks. ShoYaRight I did the opposite and changed my physical nic card from 100

Creating your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now I am in the process of converting 2 physical servers into virtual server using tghe latest vmware converter. When I try to convert the physical machine straight to the esxi 5 host, I get an error that states: FAILED: An error occurred during the conversion: 'BlockLevelVolumeCloneMgr::CloneVolume: vmware converter error Detected a write error during the cloning of volume \WindowsBitmapDriverVolumeId=[2E-E6-5D-9E-00-00-80-02-00-00-00-00]. Error: 37409 (type: 1, code: 2338)' So I tried a different route, converting it into a workstation virtual machine then converting onto the esxi host machine. Both these machine have two drives. c:\ and d:\. I read that if split up the conversion by drives then that might work. When I try converting just the C:\ into a vmware workstation virtual machine and then onto the esxi host, no problems. But when I try the d:\ drive or converting both drives in a single task, it failes with this error: FAILED: A general system error occurred: SQL_CANTOPEN: unable to open database file Can anyone help me out, Its been hassling me for a while now and I forget I have folks out there who know a whole lot more about these things than I do.
