error occurred during reconfiguration? a.p. Jan 13, 2013 2:26 AM (in response to lolhaha) Can't tell you for sure, but there seems to be an OEM partition on the source. In addition it looks like you converted the VM (Windows 7!?) with an IDE controller instead of selecting an "LSILogic SAS" controller in the converter wizard. One more hint. If the Windows version on your laptop is an OEM version (bound vmware converter unable to reconfigure the destination virtual machine to the hardware), you may not be able to re-activate it in the virtual machine due to hardware checks and you would most likely violate the license agreement.André Like Show 0 Likes (0) Actions 2. Re: An error occurred during reconfiguration? lolhaha Jan 13, 2013 5:53 AM (in response to a.p.) The system i am trying to convert is windows 7. The oem partition that i think you are referring is the 100MB windows creates for recovery purposes and the vmware convertor is also selecting in the process of converting. In the converter wizard that [disk controler] is set to auto .Also, even if the result is a failed operation, a file is created. The file boots in vmware, windows appears to be loading but a blue screen appears right before the clickable username page should appear. When the system restarts the option to fix errors was selected but windows did not manage to find a solution to the problem that caused the blue screen. Like Show 0 Likes (0) Actions 3. Experts Exchange > Questions > VMWare converter fails error: reconfiguration failed Want to Advertise Here? Solved VMWare converter fails error: reconfiguration failed Posted on boot.ini windows 7 2010-03-09 VMware 1 Verified Solution 18 Comments 5,066 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-09 I am trying to p2v a remote box to a virtual ESX 4.0 server. I am using VMWare converter 4.0.1. I keep getting the error "reconfiguration https://communities.vmware.com/thread/431810?tstart=0 failed. I have searched the logs, but cannot figure out what exactly is the problem. it seems to be a disk error. Sorry, I am a relative newbie to vmware products. I have uploaded the logs for review. vmware-converter-agent-1.log 0 Question by:clexch Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 1 Best Solution byclexch Well I was able to get the P2V conversion done. I just did not adjust the drive sizes during conversion. By keeping the drives the same https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/25339725/VMWare-converter-fails-error-reconfiguration-failed.html size as the physical box, the conversion worked succesfully. Thanks Go to Solution 18 Comments LVL 40 Overall: Level 40 VMware 35 Message Expert Comment by:coolsport002010-03-09 A few things to try, if you haven't done so already -> stop all processes/services writing to the physical host, including A/V software. Close out of the Converter tool and stop all converter type services on the machine Converter is installed on. Re-open converter (select 'yes' to restart server service). Retry the P2V. Is the error displayed within Converter? Does it complete then when you boot up the VM the error displays? What is the host OS you're trying to P2V? Regards, ~coolsport00 0 LVL 1 Overall: Level 1 Message Author Comment by:clexch2010-03-09 I will try what you mentioned and report back. The errors is displayed in converter. It gets to 95% completion and fails. I can see the VM listed in the virtual center when connected to the ESX host, but it obviously does not boot, as the reconfiguration never completes. The OS of the Physical box is windows server 2003 SP2 0 LVL 40 Overall: Level 40 VMware 35 Message Expert Comment by:coolsport002010-03-09 OK...try those few things and let me know. If it doesn't work, you can try Vizioncore's tool (http://downloads.vizioncore.com/) to see if it works. Sometimes Converter Standalone is 'flaky' in my opinion. :) ~coolsport00 0 Messa

I've tried reinstalling LyX and MiKTeX, to no avail. When I open LyX, no document classes are available. When I attempt to reconfigure LyX, I get an error message: The system reconfiguration has failed. Default textclass is used but LyX may not be able to work properly. Please reconfigure again if needed.
