I made updates to our base-image template and following an advised from our Sys Admin I removed and try to reinstall the View Agent error 1920 service vmware horizon view composer svid failed to start on the virtual workstation. The removal process worked like expected, however now during the reinstallation I'm receiving the NetLogon message below. Ignoring the message then leads to "VMware View Composer Guest Agent Server (VMware-viewcomposer-ga) failed to start" . I tried searching online didn't find much information. In my case we were upgrading VMware Horizon View from 5.3 to 6.0. With the new Horizon View 6.0 HTML Blast is installed automatically and therefore the Windows firewall may be disabled if you followed the VMware Optimization guide. Before you begin make sure you have a current snapshot of the VM. If you do not have vmware view one please make a current snapshot. Steps (4 total) 1 Uninstall the Current VMware View Agent VMware KnowledgeBase 2000017 If you try to uninstall and the View Composer Guest Agent Server service is not stopped by the uninstaller. To resolve this issue, stop the View Composer Guest Agent Server service. To stop the View Composer Guest Agent Server service: 1. Log failed to start in to the virtual machine as an administrator. 2. Stop the View Composer Guest Agent Server service manually. 3. Uninstall the agent. If you are not able to stop the service: 1. Disable the View Composer Guest Agent Server service and reboot. 2. Log in as an administrator. 3. Uninstall the agent. 2 Check View Composer Service If the VMware View Composer Service has been removed continue to step four. If the View Composer is still installed you will need to stop this service but most of the time it will tell you that it cannot stop because of dependencies. To resolve this issue please install a version of VMware Agent prior to the one you are removing.
