process worked like expected, however now during the reinstallation I'm receiving the NetLogon message below. Ignoring the message then leads to "VMware View Composer Guest Agent Server (VMware-viewcomposer-ga) failed to start" . I tried searching online didn't find much information. Any help is appreciated.View Agent Version = 5.1.3Troubleshooting steps:** Reboot the system and start installation from scratch. upgrading or removing the VMware Horizon View agent because the View Composer Guest Agent Service Fails to Stop, here is the How-To to resolve this. In my case we were upgrading VMware Horizon View from 5.3 to 6.0. With the new Horizon View 6.0 https://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/86475-vmware-view-agent-fails-to-install-because-service-stop-times-out-or-vmware-view-composer-guest-agent-service-fails-to-stop HTML Blast is installed automatically and therefore the Windows firewall may be disabled if you followed the VMware Optimization guide. Before you begin make sure you have a current snapshot of the VM. If you do not have one please http://www.techezone.com/question/vmware-horizon-view-agent-upgrade/ make a current snapshot. Steps (4 total) 1 Uninstall the Current VMware View Agent VMware KnowledgeBase 2000017 If you try to uninstall and the View Composer Guest Agent Server service is not stopped by the uninstaller. To resolve this issue, stop vmware view the View Composer Guest Agent Server service. To stop the View Composer Guest Agent Server service: 1. Log in to the virtual machine as an administrator. 2. Stop the View Composer Guest Agent Server service manually. 3. Uninstall the agent. If you are not able to stop the service: 1. Disable the View Composer Guest Agent Server service and reboot. 2. Log in as an administrator. 3. Uninstall the agent. 2 Check View Composer Service If the VMware View Composer Service has failed to start been removed continue to step four. If the View Composer is still installed you will need to stop this service but most of the time it will tell you that it cannot stop because of dependencies. To resolve this issue please install a version of VMware Agent prior to the one you are removing. In our case we were removing 5.3 so we installed 5.2 agent. 3 Remove Older VMware View Agent Now that you have the older agent installed you can uninstall it and the View Composer will be removed along with its dependancies. 4 Install the new VMware Horizon View Agent With all the services stopped or removed you will now be able to install the View Agent with no problems. Conclusion I hope this helps out someone. I spent a week with VMware Support trying to resolve this issue and we tried everything as far as even deleting out the service manually to no avail. Apparently something was hanging up the services and not allowing them to stop or be removed. Installing an older version seemed to fix the problem for us and all of our View Desktop Bases. Open Public VmwareQuestions Guest asked May 2, 2015 Hello Guys,I just wanted to ask if someone had encounter issues upgrading vmware view agent on the base image?. We just upgraded our view environment from version 5.2 to version 6.0.0 and I'm seeing error:1920 while upgrading two of our base image. I was able to upgrade the rest of the base image with no issues though. I'm not sure if this KB VMware KB: VMware View Agent fails to uninstall still applies to version 6.0.0 since if I disable vmware view composer guest agent server service, It wont let windows firewall start since its dependent to this service and view agent 6.0.0 needs firewall to be started to install. I would really appreciate any response.TIA.Renzo Please login or Register to Submit Answer Username Password Remember Me Answers :Found no answers..!!
