A virtual machine must have a CD-ROM drive configured for this option to work. It turns out that one of the preceding steps deleted the CD-ROM drive from the image. After a shutdown, I was able add a CD-ROM drive back to the parent image through edit settings. From the control panel, it started well to uninstall, then it hit a problem and it rolled back. There are quite a number of log files, but not sure if uninstall write to the same log files. Agent in a Windows 7 virtual machine, you will likely come to the point where the View Agent installation will fail at: Error 1920 VMware View 3.1 View Composer Guest Agent Server (vmware-svi-ga.exe) service fails to start.
