upgrading or removing the VMware Horizon View agent because the View Composer Guest Agent Service Fails to Stop, here is the How-To to resolve this. In my case we https://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/86475-vmware-view-agent-fails-to-install-because-service-stop-times-out-or-vmware-view-composer-guest-agent-service-fails-to-stop were upgrading VMware Horizon View from 5.3 to 6.0. With the new Horizon http://software.fujitsu.com/jp/manual/manualfiles/m160000/j2uz7243/07enz202/j7243-c-02-03.html View 6.0 HTML Blast is installed automatically and therefore the Windows firewall may be disabled if you followed the VMware Optimization guide. Before you begin make sure you have a current snapshot of the VM. If you do not have one please make a current snapshot. Steps (4 total) 1 Uninstall the Current vmware view VMware View Agent VMware KnowledgeBase 2000017 If you try to uninstall and the View Composer Guest Agent Server service is not stopped by the uninstaller. To resolve this issue, stop the View Composer Guest Agent Server service. To stop the View Composer Guest Agent Server service: 1. Log in to the virtual machine as an administrator. 2. Uninstall the agent. 2 Check View Composer Service If the VMware View Composer Service has been removed continue to step four. If the View Composer is still installed you will need to stop this service but most of the time it will tell you that it cannot stop because of dependencies. To resolve this issue please install a version of VMware Agent prior to the one you are removing. In our case we were removing 5.3 so we installed 5.2 agent. 3 Remove Older VMware View Agent Now that you have the older agent installed you can uninstall it and the View Composer will be removed along with its dependancies. 4 Install the new VMware Horizon View Agent With all the services stopped or removed you will now be able to install the View Agent with no problems. Conclusion I hope this helps out someone. I spent a week with VMware Support trying to resolve this issue and we tried everything as far as even deleting out the ser
