At one point the laptop had been dropped, causing windows to run into BSOD occasionally. After removing / reinstalling the hard drive, thinking the connection may have gotten loose, it completely failed to https://discuss.howtogeek.com/t/solved-win7-windows-update-failing-code-8024200d/19015 start anymore. Apparently the boot manager had completely been corrupted or had dissapeared for the windows side, while grub and ubuntu were still perfectly in tact. Ran into several issues with, what we assumed was at least, grub not cooperating with the windows installers, repair discs, etc., to the point we couldn't even just format the entire windows partition and reinstall, due to it being forced into GPT somehow without accepting the NTFS formatting. Regardless, this lead to a full wipe of the drive, and the same version (but not the OEM install disc) of windows installed completely fresh. That brings us to where I am now, trying to get windows up to date running into these issues. If anybody could give me a hand it would be greatly appreciated. If there's any other information you need, please ask. Thanks in advance. donetao 2014-08-29 02:26:51 UTC #2 Hi!I'm sure you have been here!http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2734782 Shields 2014-08-29 02:44:04 UTC #3 I have.
