How do I remove write protection from a compact flash card? Several things can cause this: A) Some flash cards have a lock mechanism on them, it may be on the bottom. But you said it doesn't have one... Make sure the files/folders you have stored on the flash card are not set to "Read Only". You can select all of the files/folders in Explorer and hit Properties. Uncheck read only. C) The partition or file format of the files cannot be recognized by the camera you're trying to put it in.
