Call Customer Support" Sorry for the bad picture of the error I couldn't get my capture card working with the Original Xbox. Anyway, I googled this problem and it says error 07 most original xbox error code 16 of the time is the IDE cable is not properly connected. Please reattach the ide cable.

Not only to the harddisk drive but also to the dvd drive. ALso try to reconnect the ide cable to the motherboard. Press original xbox error code 21 pretty hard so it goes all the way in. Make sure it is seated straight and proper in the drives and the motherboard. If you still have an error 7. Try another ide cable. If that won't work

try another harddisk. If there is still no go, try to set the jumpers on the rearside of the harddisk drive. Set it to master or cable select... Source So knowing that I opened up the xbox and disconnected and reconnected the IDE cable and to my astonishment it worked... for a little bit... My question I have is does anyone know a way to fix this permanently. I don't want to have to keep disconnecting and reconnecting your xbox requires service please call customer support the IDE cable just to play a game. Also I know this seem stupid that I'm posting this. Most of you will probably say just go buy another one there cheap, but I just wanted to see if I could fix it. I don't know. Ya, I have read that you can reset the xbox to factory settings with a unique code but I don't know what mine is. You have to call Microsoft support and ask for the code but I don't think they have a support team for the Original Xbox anymore. I think I may have to buy another one that works. The code is different for every Xbox and from what I can see there is no obvious way to figure out what the code is. The code does exist and may solve problems on some of the Xboxes out there. If you can get to the system status screen you should be able to enter the code. What is it really

You need a new harddrive, no two ways about it. While it is possible to install a new drive into a softmodded xbox, (you need to have backups of your drive and eeprom from before it died), it is no fun...Buy a mod chip and a new harddrive. Then installation is quick and easy. You will need to get a copy of an autoinstaller that has the original system files to build the new harddrive. I recomend slayers... Lock the drive if you want to boot to the M$ Dash without the modchip on. 6 - kernel - Cannot unlock HDD - You put a locked hard disk from another console, and that drive is still locked, the keys do not match. 7 - kernel - HDD timeout. HDD was found - Improper jumper setting, Check power, check ribbon cable and seating, damaged hard disk. 8 - kernel - No HDD found - Check ribbon cable, broken/bad drive. 9 - kernel - HDD parameters - PIO/DMA/SIZE. A certain size of 8GB is minimum for Xbox. Replace the IDE cable if drive is good. The hard disk does not support one or more of these features (PIO/DMA Mode). Do not use older hard disks for modding, and do not use under 8.4GB drives. The onboard IDE controler is bad. 10 - kernel - DVD timeout. The DVD drive did not respond, though was recognised - Check for IDE cable and seating. Check jumper setting. 11 - kernel - No DVD Found - Drive is no good. During game play, drive failed to eject the disc after you were using the system - overheating - drive is failing. If you were inside the box, check cables and power. 12 - kernel - DVD parameters (PIO/DMA) - Modded aftermarket drive does not comply with settings. Component went bad on OEM drive minboard. Bad IDE cable. 13 - kernel - Dashboard launch fail (due to missing/bad key, or anything else that woul
