You have to call Microsoft support and ask for the code but I don't think they have a support team for the Original Xbox any

I have 2 soft modded xbox's I did myself and I http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/modded-xbox-error-7.58530/ wanted to update the dashboard on this old one and somewhere i've screwed somehting up. I'm either http://www.ehow.com/how_5027380_repair-xbox-error.html getting a Error 7 or it sticks on the loading screen (both pictured below as well as my ancient mod chip). I read that error 7 was usually the ribbon being loose, so I checked then replaced the ribbon...same problem. I thought maybe if I could get the XBox to boot up with slayer I could fix the problem by reformatting the hard drive but..no go, can't get it to boot xbox error to disc. I know the dvd drive workd because I tested it in another xbox. I also tried a few different hard drives, one from another xbox...still a no go. so any ideas? or is this thing dead in the water? Thanks, the HDD is spinning up. Ive tried the trick you mentioned repeatedly. No luck. Since it's hard modded would another xbox hard drive maybe work? Sorry, I should have tried before asking. I placed another xbox hard drive I had and..I got error 6. Then for the heck of it, I put a band new IDE hard drive I purchased to upgrade one of my softmodded xbox's and.....(see picture below). The solution is relatively easy compared to other error codes, but it will require some time and basic knowledge of computer hardware. However, with a few tweaks to your system, you'll be back to gaming soon. Things You'll Need Small phillips head screwdriver Extra IDE cable (optional) Open your XBox. If you have never done this before, it can be challenging. Follow the link below to see how to do it. Check that the IDE cable is correctly connected to the motherboard, the hard drive, and to the DVD drive. Usually, Error Code 7 simply means that the cable has come loose. Re-seat the cable by disconnecting and then reconnecting them. Press each connected cable in as hard as you can. The IDE cables Microsoft uses has a tendency to loosen themselves, and the connection can be broken even if they cables seem to be attached. Test your XBox. If you still get the error code, attach a new IDE cable to each connection. You can do this one at a time to be sure that you have located the correct broken connection. Test the system again. If it still does not work, turn the hard drive over. Locate the jumpers on its back and set them to either "master" or "cable select." Test your XBox one more time. If you still get the error, consider consulting a game repair service. Tips & Warnings Opening your XBox can invalidate the warranty, so only follow these procedures if your warranty has expired.
