Forbidden error is an HTTP status code which means that accessing the page or resource you were trying to reach is 403 forbidden groupon absolutely forbidden for some reason. This article contains basic troubleshooting instructions for 403 Forbidden errors. Symptom You get the following error when you try to visit a web page: Figure 1. Empty html directory Empty httpdocs directory Make sure that your website content has been uploaded to the correct directory on your server. Remember to replace example.com with your own domain name. It sounds like you're well-protected behind a good proxy at work. Sorry. :) Proxies can be configured to allow only https://support.mozilla.org/questions/904695 certain applications to pass through them, by filtering based on the "user-agent string" that an application tells to the proxy. That is, your SSH 403 forbidden client actually tells the proxy "I'm a putty SSH client", and your proxy is refusing to proxy its data. If you were feeling adventurous, you could try modifying the source code of your SSH client so that it told the proxy that it was, say, Internet Explorer instead. Or, 403 forbidden error easier, ask your IT guys at work to add your SSH client to the list of "allowable" applications.
