directory. I granted Read and Update permission to this user in FTP site and the physical directory. When I FTP to the server using this account, I am getting "530 User FTPUser cannot log in, home directory inaccessible." error. I searched around this forums and I am unable to get a clear answer. It appears I need to create a home directory for the FTPUser but don't know exactly where it should be created and how. What did I miss? There is a new FTP mode called "Isolate users". If we only allow this FTPUser to FTP files onto the server. How to set it up properly? Please advise and thanks in advance! Solved home directory inaccessible - unable to login FTP server on IIS 6.0 Posted on 2006-05-27 Microsoft IIS Web Server 5 Verified Solutions 17 Comments 50,025 Views Last Modified: 2011-08-18 Hi all, I have a 530 user Win2003, standalone, server with service pack 1 for windows server 2003 on it. The problem is that, no matter what I do, I can't seem to get any FTP accounts to work. (I've done this dozens of times on W2K3 before and this one has got me completely stumped - the only difference now is that this is Service Pack 1 and the others were not - so it is probably a new "feature" 530 user cannot from MS). Here goes: I set up a group called FTPUSERS, gave it "Log On Locally" rights in the local policy. Then I created several user accounts. Each account has a login name matching its virtual folder. The permissions on the folder(s) are set for all the ftp users and groups. When I try to FTP into the server, I get the "user fred cannot login, home directory inaccessible" error. (no matter the user) After verifying the passwords, logins, turning off the firewall, giving full control permissions to the user(s) and to the FTPUSERS group and basically making the server completely open (to attack), I STILL CANNOT LOG IN! I've done this so many times before, I am completely baffled as to why this is happening now. It's a completely brand new machine with no other services running except IIS 6. I checked Microsoft's site for a patch or bugfix with no luck. I'm certain it has to do with Service Pack 1 as I've never had problems with this before but I cannot uninstall the Service Pack. Anyone? 0 Question by:simplyamazing Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 34 Best Solution byDave_Dietz Did you by any chance configure the FTP site to use either AD or Non-AD User Isolation when you initally created it? I'm working from a Windows 2008 Server with IIS 7 installed. To create the FTP user directory I've followed this eHow tutorial. The FTP site is already set up on IIS 7, so I skipped that bit and followed the rest exactly. However, when I try to connect via FileZilla, I get the following errors: Status: Connecting to xxx.xx.xx.xx:21... Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... Response: 220 Microsoft FTP Service Command: USER userFTP Response: 331 Password required for userFTP. Command: PASS ******** Response: 530 User cannot log in, home directory inaccessible. Error: Critical error Error: Could not connect to server I've double checked the permissions of the user and everything appears to be as it should. If anyone has any advice, I'd be so grateful. windows-server-2008 ftp user-management share|improve this question edited Dec 30 '14 at 0:43 Michael Lowman 3,2431232 asked Oct 14 '10 at 11:26 109221793 160119 Similar question: serverfault.com/questions/62784/… –Jon Schneider Oct 15 '15 at 20:36 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 a
