that this "Adaptor - as you call it" is an external SD card reader that plugs into USB rather than one that's part of your laptop? If yes, it probably needs a driver since the native (integrated) card readers have their own drives too ( can be seen in "Portable Devices" in the Device Manager). No, the adapter is just that small plastic thing that is the size of a normal SD card. sd card access denied windows 7 The micro SD card slots into that. The card reader is built into the Laptop. Like this; EDIT: I've also tried updating the drive in the Device Manager, says it's all up to date... Really quite anoying. Sometimes it's driver problems, other times there may be other reasons that the connectivity to the device cannot be established. In the case at hand it may be that the micro card does not correctly connect with the adapter. But that has to be verified. The OP needs to test it with a regular SD card. Hope this helps. simonwarren (7-contact-wozzie) said on 2012-09-10: #2 I have the same issue. I've reset the lock slider (locked and unlocked a couple of times), removed and re-connected my card reader on 2 different USB ports (not on a hub). I have full access to the card and have formatted, read and written to it after each change to confirm that's not an issue. I've tried a couple of images from http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/ and get the "Access denied error 5" each time. The only thing I've not been able to test is with a different memory card. I'm running Vista32 on an HP G7000 laptop, and the Mem card's a SanDisk Ultra 16GB Class 6. Any comments will be much appreciated.
