Is there another way I can find where it is looking for?Using a %TEMP% search I found a temp folder for Acrobat Distiller 10 at C: > User > Jen > AppData > Local > Temp. The date on it is the day I reinstalled the program. This is a personal laptop so there shouldn't be any write access denial. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 3. Rename the InDesign acrotray has stopped working SavedData file and the InDesign Defaults file (for example, to InDesign SavedData.old, InDesign Defaults.old) in the following location: Windows XP: C:/Documents and Settings/[user name]/Application Data/Adobe/InDesign/[Version]Windows 7/Vista: C:/Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/InDesign/[Version]Mac OS: /Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1180475 InDesign/[Version] Start InDesign. InDesign creates preference files. If the problem persists, you can restore the original preferences by deleting the new files and renaming the old preference files back to their original names. Solution 2: Re-create the gradient so that spot colors are from the same color space. If you print an EPS file exported from an InDesign document with a https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/error-print-engine-failed-print.html gradient, make sure that spot colors in the gradient are from the same color space, and then re-export the EPS. (For example, make sure that the gradient doesn't contain one RGB spot color and one LAB spot color.) Solution 3: Change print options in the Print dialog box. Change the settings in the Print dialog box as follows:If you print a section that contains only one odd page, deselect Even Pages Only.If you print a section that contains only one even page, deselect Odd Pages Only. Solution 4: Replace out-of-range colors with in-range colors. If you print an InDesign document that contains imported tagged text, check to see if the tagged text file contains an out-of-range color. Out-of-range colors appear in the Swatches palette with an appended value, such as "+5," that indicates the nearest in-range value.To replace an out-of-range color with an in-range color, do the following:Define a new color swatch in InDesign and then use the Find/Change feature to replace the color in the tagged text file with the new color.Redefine the color value in the tagged text fil

But I do not remember if this were or were not prior to the problem. In any event,I tried to no avail printing to pdf from both within the Adobe software and from the MS Office products.(c) on my own, I installed and uninstalled Adobe Acrobat 8.0 with no resolution. (d) the first level tech support told me to install Adobe XI, trial version, and that would solve the problem. That did has stopped working not and she could not help further. (e) today, I spoke with a second level tech support at Adobe, who indicated that he was certain the problem was correctable by him, by going variously into the computer's log files for the error, and correcting certain preferences, and possibly correcting the printing, etc. He thought it is possible that by removingone or more of the printers, that I removed something associated with the Adobe file. He could only assist, however, if I upgrade to Adobe XI, as opposed to the trial version. I am holding off doing this because I work with 2000 MS Word (it is associated with an Act database that I have) and I do no want to have compatibility issues with the new software. The optimal solution would be to find and repair the problems with my 2008 Adobe Acrobat installation.Any help would be much appreciated!Clyde Clyde JEsman 11 Answers Edit Answer (for another 3 minutes) Clyde, Acrobat 8 has reached it's end of life, so you can no longer get support from Adobe for this version. Not even Acrobat 9 is supported anymore. This makes the information you got from Adobe understandable. Which version of Windows are you running on? Is this version compatible with Acrobat 8? If you are running on a not supported version of the OS, an

Topic: Acrobat Distiller printer error message Conf: (P-PDF) What's Wrong with my PDF?, Msg: 160465 From: Raeka8 Date: 5/31/2007 10:01 AM I have Adobe Acrobat 4.0 which always worked great on my Windows 98. I think it used to work on my XP after I got a new computer. I have XP windows now, and although my Word shows the Adobe icon on the toolbar, if I click it in an open Word document, it starts to try to convert the document but then immediately I get the following message: "PDFMaker cannot locate the Acrobat Distiller printer driver. Please re-install Adobe Acrobat 4.0." I also tried opening the Adobe first, then opening the word doc from that environment and it starts to try to open the .doc file and fails. In the text box it states on the line before the failed message, "Acrobat Distiller Printer not defined." Next line: "Transformation failed." Next line: "Process failed." Also, when it works properly, if I click print from a document, it always shows my actual hard printer as well as the Adobe Distiller printer. But now it never shows up when I look for it under the print button. I found on the forum where someone else had the same error message as my first one above and someone offered this suggestion: {1. Go into the printers control panel.
2. Select any printer.
3. Right click->Properties.
4. Click Ports.
5. Do you see a "PDF Port"? If so, delete it.
6. Uninstall Acrobat (Add/Remove programs).
7. Add any PostScript driver with the ADD PRINTER icon. Suggest: Apple LaserWriter IINTX.
8. Reinstall Acrobat.
If you want PDFWriter too, you have to do a custom install. } I tried that but after re-installing Adobe, it still did not change anything. I did not uninstall my printer and I wasn't sure what they were talking about with the postscript driver. Maybe that's another product. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Again, I have Windows XP Professional, Adobe Acrobat 4.0 and Word 2000. Thank you Rae Acrobat & PDF Developer LibrariesPDF Master Series III: Eugene Y.
