Laptop's CD/DVD Burner Doesn't Work Started by chazbizzle , Feb 16 2009 11:44 PM Please log in to reply No replies to this topic #1 chazbizzle chazbizzle Member Members 12 posts Posted 16 February 2009 - 11:44 PM Hi everyone I was wondering if you had any idea as to the issue with my laptop's CD Burner. First of all, the specs: Toshiba Satellite Laptop Model P40 Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz 2.99 GHz, 512 MB of Ram XP Media Center Edition version 2002 Service Pack 3 The Drive in question: Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-811 I got all this from the System http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/the-attempt-to-burn-a-disc-failed-an-unknown-error-occured-4450.41356/ Info area, let me know if there is anything else you need to know. Anyway my problem occurs when I try to burn a cd or dvd. I mostly use iTunes but when I run the burner through iTunes I get an error message like this: "CD can not be burned. An Unknown error occurred (4221)" I tried to find any info on this error type but was unsuccessful. I considered the issue was with iTunes itself, so I tried burning https://forums.pcpitstop.com/index.php?/topic/165578-laptops-cddvd-burner-doesnt-work/ through Windows Media Player. After Inspecting and Converting each song, at which point it said the burn was 33% complete, the process stops abuptly and I get this message: Windows Media Player cannot burn the files to the CD. Verify that the disc is clean and not damaged. If necessary, select a slower recording speed or try a different brand of blank discs. Error ID = 0xC00D11AB, Condition ID = 0x00000000 I've tried multiple cds, multiple mediums (different songs), and even other programs (Nero) and I get the same results. I should say that this has happened after not using the burning capability of my computer for a long time, ipod kinda made it superfluous, but the last time i tried to burn a cd, maybe 8-12 months ago?, there were no issues. Sorry for all the writing, just want to make sure I cover all the info. Anyway, if anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading!!
