That error is indicative of file corruption. Unless you have a backup and can restore the original file before editing, you may be out of luck. You might also want to run a FSCK on your internal hard drive as that could be what caused the corruption. After loads of yelling at the computer I tried to save it to a different disk, namely my external hard disk, which worked. Might be worth a try! Question is: Is there any way to open it? The best I can do right now is take the .swf http://www.flashadvisor.com/forum/threads/2764-Unknown-Error-Occurred-While-Accessing-Cartoon.fla version of it and import it to stage. That at least gets all the animation back, but it also loses ALL the sound effects and eliminates all the nuances of the animation (I can't go back and tweak tweens over several frames, etc.) Is there any way to retrieve my .fla in tact? 09-17-200702:33 AM # ADS Advertisement by Join Date Always Posts Many 09-17-200701:45 PM #2 NTD View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Visit Homepage Moderator Moderator Join Date May 2004 Location U.S.A. Posts 2,890 Hi, A couple things to try. Click on the .fla file without flash open and see if it will initiate the program. Next, open flash and try opening the file from flash itself. If neither of these work, your .fla file is corrupted. I have had this happen before. Your alternatives to a corrupt file.....redo it from scratch or look into a decompiler and use the .swf file to recreate an .fla file. Web Site Monitoring Social Media Flash deleting flasPosted Jun 10 2010 in Flash with 0 Comments We have a client that just started to have this problem too. I posted my comments to this page: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2896241#2896241 http://codango.com/flash-deleting-flas/ BUT HERE is the trouble ticket RE-PHRASED: SUMMARY of the problem: When Andrea has Adobe Flash CS4 open with a FLA file. The FLASH CS4 program seems to lock up. It does not appear to be the network http://generalspecialist.com/troubleshooting-after-effects-all-versions/ or file location, but I do not want to rule it out. Once the CS4 program locks up …Andrea can not perform a “SAVE AS” to any location. Her c: drive Her L: drive Etc… an unknown And on top of that: the file also becomes “DELETED” from the original location. In the example below It appears that another file name was replaced with the other. I believe it has something to do with the combination of ADOBE BRIDGE AND FLASH CS4 open at the same time Or how the two programs are being utilized by Andrea. search reference: adobe flash cs4 bridge locks up and deletes flaadobe flash an unknown error cs4 can not save flaERROR BUG adobe flash cs4 fla bridge delete filesadobe flash cs4 crashes and deletes flaadobe flash cs4 locks up and deletes flaflash cs4 cache file "save as" flash fla actually vanishes from the folderflash locks up fla actually vanishes from the folderflash fla disappears from folder.fla file disappearedUnknown error occurred while accessing .fla file disappearedflash cs4 Unknown error occurred while accessing .fla file disappeared Source link I am happy to share this resource that I found. start reinstalling and trashing things, make sure you've tried to locate what part of your AE project is causing the problems. Start by isolating the problem: What is causing this problem, and when does the problem occur? Every time you import something, every time you render to a specific codec, everytime you apply a certain effect? Can you reproduce the problem by doing something, or is it random? What did you do just before the problem occured? Can that operation have caused the problem? Can you do the same thing in another way without seeing the error? Does your rendering/preview fail at the same frame on both previews and renders? Isolate that layer with the solo switch and turn off every effect and then turn them on one-by-one. Does the error occur in all projects or just one? If in just one, what is special about it? Does the error occur on other machines with the same version of AE/plugins/drivers? If so, what is unique about this machine? Does it happen without third-party plugins? Are the third-party plugins compatible with CS3? Do you have a third-party video card such as AJA or Decklink? Have you updated those drivers? Have you changed anything about the system lately? Installed a new codec, driver, software or hardware? Try to revert your changes and see if the problem disappears. Do a search with specific keywords from any error messages you get. Enclose terms that have more than one word with quotation marks. Here's a good example:"image buffer" "after effects" Workarounds to common problems: If you hold down the Shift key while opening an old project you will force AE to close all comp viewers, so if one of the comps are causing problems you will be able to identify which comp it is. You can also try to import the project instead of opening it. A third solution is to move all source files into a new folder so that AE can't find them, and then locate each source file separately by choosing "Replace footage -> File…" so that you can isolate which source is causing problems. If you are getting rendering errors it might be the codec that is hogging RAM. If you enable "Purge every 20 frames during Make Movie" you will probably get around the problem. You can do this in the Secret preferences by holding down the Shift key and then select Preferences… from the menu. In the Preferences dialog box you can then choose the "S
