Word with EndNote 8.0.2 on Windows, I get an error message, "An attempt was made to access an unnamed file past its end", and the citation does not insert properly. How can I fix this? Answer CWYW 3: What versions of Microsoft Word, Corel WordPerfect, and other word processors is EndNote compatible with? Answer CWYW 4: When I open Microsoft Word I get an error message, "The macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your macro security endnote error when opening library settings", and the EndNote tools do not work. How can I fix this? Answer CWYW 5: Using EndNote 7 for Windows with Microsoft Word XP or 2003, EndNote's keyboard shortcuts in Word (Alt+1, Alt+2, etc.) do not work. Answer CWYW 6: Since installing EndNote 6, Microsoft Word XP (2002) or Word 2003 is running slowly or freezing periodically. Word is reporting error messages such as "Unknown Error 0x800A1007" or messages which indicate there are too many edits or not enough resources/memory. Memory usage gradually increases and the CPU usage climbs to 100% and stays there. I cannot save my document and I have to use the Task Manager in order to quit Word. Answer CWYW 7: I have a document that was created using an older version of EndNote, but I cannot get the new version of EndNote to recognize the citations in the Microsoft Word document. What do I need to do to work with this document using my new version of EndNote? Answer CWYW 8: Whenever I click one of the EndNote commands in Word (either under the Tools / EndNote menu or on the EndNote toolbar) I get an error every time: "This Command is Not Available Because a Document Window is Not Active". How can I fix this? Answer CWYW 9: How do I exclude the author or year from my citations? Answer CWYW 10: Do the tools in Word install for more than one user
Endnote, Tool Use, Unknown Error, Word 2007 Today, my word 2007 doesn't work suddenly. I would get a "An unknown error occurred" message with title "Endnote
Endnote Is Not Responding. Error = -600
X2" (shown below) when I tried to open or edit any endnote insert citation not working word files. Endnote X2 unknown error This drove me crazy, I uninstalled and reinstalled word 2007 several times, endnote is not responding error 600 still nothing new happened. Finally, I got the answer. Here's solution from Microsoft Help and Support website. Original website link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921541 Delete the Word Data registry key Most of http://endnote.com/support/faqs/endnote the frequently used options in Word are stored in the Word Data registry key. A common troubleshooting step is to delete the Word Data registry key. The next time that you start Word, Word rebuilds the Word Data registry key by using the default settings. To view these options in Word 2002 or Word 2003, click Options on https://zhenzheng.wordpress.com/2009/08/20/how-to-solve-unkown-error-caused-by-endnote-in-word-2007/ the Tools menu. To view these options in Word 2007, click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Word Options. Note When you delete the Word Data registry key, Word resets several options to their default settings. One such option is the "most recently used file" list on the File menu. Additionally, Word resets many settings that you customize in the Options dialog box. To delete the Word Data registry key, follow these steps: Exit all Office programs. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK. Locate the following registry subkey, as appropriate for the version of Word that you are running: Word 2002: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft \Office\10.0\Word\Data Word 2003: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Office\11.0\Word\Data Word 2007: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Office\12.0\Word\Data Click Data, and then click Export on the File menu. Name the file Wddata.reg, and then save the file to the desktop. Click Delete on the Edit menu, and then click Yes. Exit Registry Editor. Start Word. If Word starts and works correctly, you have resolved the problem. The problem was a damaged Word Data registry
pop up regularly when I open my PhD thesis (about 210 pages) in Microsoft Word 2004 for Mac on my MacBook (1,83 Ghz, Mac OS X 10.4.10, 1 GB RAM) and try to edit a citation. When I wrote the thesis, http://myowelt.blogspot.com/2007/08/my-endnoteword-nightmare.html I did not use CiteWhileYouWrite, but inserted EndNote in-text citations like this: {Author, Year #Record} (or {, Year #Record} if I wanted to omit the author's name). It was just faster to type. When I http://osdir.com/ml/search.endnote/2008-01/msg00050.html finished my document, I clicked on "format bibliography" in my EndNote PlugIn, and Word started working, until the above COM exception occurred. Now dare you, this is a legal and fully registered Version of EndNote an unknown (I spent 100 EUR for an upgrade to Mac in January!), so I contacted EndNote support. They were friendly and asked me to send in the document and my library, which I did. Then they formatted my document on a Windows machine for me without any substantial advice on how to avoid the problem in the future. Which is not much use because some citations were arbitrary (I forgot to place an unknown error the #Record) and of course they didn't get it right. So I did the following thing: I opened a clean and fresh Word document and pasted my thesis chapter-by-chapter into the new document. I avoided two citations which the EndNote support suspected for having caused the error. After every chapter (about 20 pages), I formatted the bibliography. Guess what, already after the 3rd chapter, Word started to slow down extremely, and to re-run page breaks over and over again. After the fifth chapter, both above error messages started to show up again. Citations would remain unformatted untiil I manually clicked into them, this would sometimes help. It took me an ENTIRE DAY to auto-format my bibliography and as a result I have a complete document BUT: Whenever I open the document and try to edit a reference in the text (or add a new one), Word freezes and the above errors appear. Sometimes that happens without me doing anything. Thus, I have a frozen version of my PhD that I cannot edit. This is a complete nightmare and a catastrophe beyond belief. I now switched to LaTeX (gwTeX / TeXShop / BibDesk) and typeset the entire document again. I should have done that right from the beginning. Not only does i
I open Word: "EndNote X1: An Unknown Error Occurred." When I clear this error message by clicking on the "X" in the upper right corner or the "OK" button, Word churns away for a time, but will not function. I suppose that I need to uninstall EndNote X1 in order for Word to work correctly. But I cannot really afford to be without either program. Do you have any suggestions for how to work around this apparent conflict between EndNote X1 and Word? I believe I am using the latest version of EndNote (X1.0.1, Bld 2682). I am using Microsoft Office 2007 and Windows Vista Enterprise. John McVay Walla Walla University Thread at a glance: Previous Message by Date: Word 2008 Mac? I've just upgraded to End XI, and I every time I try to insert a citation from the reference I have open, I get an error message: "There are no references selected in the frontmost EndNote library." Each time, I need to CLOSE the reference, and then insert the citation, then go back and open it up again so I can continue adding notes. (I am working simultaneously on notes within the reference and a document outline...pretty normal operating procedure for me.) I'm guessing there is some preference that I had checked previously, which I now can't find. The help file doesn't seem to address this...probably just too simple and obvious! thanks, dale Previous Message by Thread: Word 2008 Mac?
