It is most known for running the Nexus 1, Samsung Galaxy, LG Fender, and other mobile phones. While some update authentication error refer to this phone as a standalone “Google Phone,” Google has made efforts to increase awareness that there is no such thing. The Open Handset Alliance (OHA), a consortium that includes technology companies like Google, Texas Instruments, Motorola, Qualcomm, Samsung, and others that has committed itself to creating unrestricted standards for cell phones and other mobile devices. The result of this is Android, a Linux-based mobile phone operating system, OHA’s first product. This software was released with an open source license by Google in 2008. Since that time, virtually every major mobile phone manufacturer has ported Android to one of their phones. Android is rapidly gaining traction in the cell phone marketplace, primarily due to the revolutionary open source development kit that has enabled a plethora of applications to become available to run on it. As of late 2009, Android is estimated to have 3.5% of the smartphone market. Current estimates suggest that Android will become the second most popular mobile operating system by 2012, ahead of Blackberry, Windows Mobile, and iPhone.

This issue is particularly more common in tablets and some models of Android smartphones. You are certain that the password you are using is correct, but the device still refuses to connect. If you’re looking to check an important email or post a meaningful social media update, this problem can be particularly annoying. It’s even worse when you can’t presently use mobile data to get online, for one reason or the other. Lucky for you, there’s a specific solution to this problem. Wi-Fi authentication problem The Android Wi-Fi authentication problem manifests when you unsuccessfully try to connect to a Wi-Fi network with the correct password. Rather than connecting and saving the password as would be the norm, the device delivers a notification beneath the network label saying that it’s authenticating. However, after a short wait, you see an ‘authentication problem’ or ‘authentication error’ notice. How to fix the issue I have two solutions to fix this issue. Either of these fixes will work in most situations but not always. Solution 1 Navigate to the Settings app on your phone then seek out Wi-Fi under Network connections. Under Wi-Fi Networks, find the network that you want to connect to and long press on its name or SSID. You’ll get a pop-up menu with two options: forget network and modify network config. Select the forget network option. Put some distance in between yourself and the Wi-Fi router until you are only getting one signal bar. Try to reconnect the same network and re-enter the password. If everything goes as it should be, you will be able to authenticate and connect to your network. If not, move on to Solution 2 below. Solution 2 In case the above solution didn’t work and your device still isn’t able to connect, try the following. Navigate to the Settings app and choose Wi-Fi as above. Long press or hold the network that you want to access and then choose the modify network config in the pop-up menu that appears.
