Windows Forms > ClickOnce and Setup & Deployment Projects Question 0 Sign in to vote Hi, I have enabled Integrated Windows authentication on the deployment location and clicking the Url users would be challenged by IE to enter their domain credentials. Once the user clicks on Install button and after verifying application requirements it would throw an error saying "Cannot retrieve application, Authentication Error". Since IE has challenged the user to enter his domain credentials and for further request click once doesnt seem to use the credentials entered by the user rather it picks up the logged in credentials of the user due to which Authentication error is thrown. How do I make sure if somebody has logged into the system using local admin account can hit the deployment url and download the kit using proper domain credentails entered in the dialog provided by

But trying to execute theadhoc reports from external computers not in the same domain as the reports server we cannot retrieve get the error "cannot retrieve application. Authentication error" and it generates a log file that has the following error report:Downloading http://Ipaddress/ReportServer/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder.application did not succeed. The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized. Thanks, yabay Post #692300 Mike MortensenMike Mortensen Posted Tuesday, April 14, 2009 6:21 PM Grasshopper Group: General Forum Members Last Login: Wednesday, April 1, 2015 4:39 PM Points: 13, Visits: 20 had the same issue, and an easy fixon the remote machine, go to your User Account in cannot retrieve application Control PanelPick your AccountSelect Manage Network Passwordsadd an entryput in the name of the report serverput in the user and password you use to loginapply ittry to run the report builder app again and it should download and installhas to do with permissions not getting passed for non-domain memebers so that the ClickOnce install routine can download the application file Post #697174 yabayyabay Posted Monday, April 20, 2009 11:43 AM Forum Newbie Group: General Forum Members Last Login: Friday, July 20, 2012 12:01 PM Points: 7, Visits: 118 Hi Mike,Thanks a lot. The workaround Mike gave does work and so far is the only way I can get Report Builder to launch from a non-domain computer. The (perceived) problem is that when you have the credentials stored,, you don't get prompted for a login at all when you hit the report manager site, which doesn't fly for many company security policies. right to execute. One way of doing it is to create an .MSI installation file with the right security settings for your assembly, then your clients prior to using your app need to install the settings. If your app is used locally (on the LAN) you could create a logon script that will automatically install the necessary security settings when the user logs in. Another way is to get a certificate from VeriSign or Thawte and sign your assembly and the deployment manifest with the trusted certificate. Hope this helps Fitim Skenderi "Rex the Strange"
