Clickonce Cannot Retrieve Application Authentication Error
However, on my test machine I can't get it to launch Dashboard Designer so I am failing utterly and completely. The facts: Sharepoint 2010 Enterprise Demo Windows 7 Home Premium No Domain, machine name "MacPro" I can access both SharePoint and SharePoint Central Administration. I have gone into IIS and turned report builder cannot retrieve application authentication error on Basic Authentication on each of the SharePoint parts. (Initially getting the blank screen issue) I have checked the box "remember my login" while in the browser. I have gone into manage windows credentials and put in every possible combination of credentials I can think of (\\macpro\username etc) and I can't get it to work. Every other solution I have read said this would fix the problem. I have also gone in and added FQDN macpro.domain.com as one thing suggested. Please help. I am not a Windows guy, but I need this so badly for work this weekend before I loose the chance to demo it. (We use 2007 now, but I am pretty sure 2010 will allow me to do what I need where 2007 won't) Saturday, July 09, 2011 1:32 AM Reply | Quote All replies 0 Sign in to vote Hi, Have you checked this? http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en

Another common issue is that Windows/IE is not remembering your credentials to pass them to the application. See this MSDN thread for more info on that. share|improve this answer edited Aug 17 '15 at 9:41 imanabidi 7,00343847 answered Jul 20 '13 at 20:06 mmarie 4,14511026 works from servers in the domain for me –imanabidi Aug 17 '15 at 7:50 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote To solve this, you should ensure you add the site to Local Intranet / Trusted Sites on IE and you add the credentials you use to access your SharePoint site to Windows Credentials Manager. share|improve this answer edited Oct 5 '15 at 13:11 answered Oct 5 '15 at 13:03 Amos Wachanga 33 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of s
August 25, 2014 by Tavis Lovell 1 I recently had to do some troubleshooting for PerformancePoint in SharePoint 2013. There were several different things that ended up being wrong http://tavislovell.com/tag/dashboard-designer/ with this particular farm, so I figured I’d do a write up http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/25538/sharepoint-2010-insights-performancepoint-401-unauthorized-error-on-invokin on the problems I encountered and how they were resolved. The primary problems in the order I encountered them were: The user was completely unable to open Dashboard Designer. The user was unable to successfully connect to SharePoint with dashboard designer, or when they did none of cannot retrieve the data source or content libraries would be available The user was unable to create or save data sources in dashboard designer once connected to SharePoint The PerformancePoint service application was throwing errors any time I tried to access the “manage” or “property” settings in Central Administration I think the best way to approach these problems would be in the cannot retrieve application order that they were encountered, so let’s get to it. 1. The user was completely unable to open Dashboard Designer When the user tried to open the Dashboard Designer from their PerformancePoint content library they were greeted with the following error message: “Cannot retrieve application. Authentication error” In this scenario, the user was logged into their computer locally (ie not using a domain account), however they were logging into SharePoint using a domain account. To get around this issue we used the “Windows Credential Manager” to tell SharePoint what account it should be using for authentication. To setup the Windows Credential Manager, follow these steps: Navigate to the Control Panel in your Windows OS Locate and click on the “Credential Manager” icon in the control panel Next to the “Add a Windows credential” link In the textbox labeled “Internet or network address” type in the address of the SharePoint site you’re logging into. You’ll want to exclude the http:// though, and you do not need to include any sub-site directory. For example, if I was opening Dashboard Desi
