The $releasever and $basearch are variables known by yum - in your case $releasever is 14, and basearch could x86_64 or i386. edit flag offensive delete link more CommentsGood point, @marcindulak!! Please verify its path and try again How to fix: "Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: fedora. Please verify its path and try again" for fedora core 14 Step 1: Add DNS to cannot retrieve Ethernet card: ifcfg-eth0 or ifcfg-eth1 for yum to know where the fedora 14 files are. edit the file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 vi /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 To edit: type "i" for insert and Escape key to edit edit mode, To Save: type cannot retrieve repository ":wq" ( write/quit ), To Exit/Abort: ":q!"
