Authentication Error SharePoint > SharePoint 2010 - Setup, Upgrade, Administration and Operations Question 0 Sign in to vote I am desperately trying to get the SharePoint 2010 demo to work on my computer to convince our CTO to use SharePoint 2010 BI capabilities. However, on my test machine I can't get it to launch Dashboard Designer so I am failing utterly and completely. The facts: Sharepoint 2010 Enterprise Demo Windows 7 Home Premium No Domain, machine name "MacPro" I can access both SharePoint and SharePoint Central Administration. I have gone into IIS and turned on Basic Authentication on each of the SharePoint parts. (Initially getting the blank screen issue) I have checked the box "remember my login" while in the browser. I have gone into manage windows credentials and put in every possible combination of credentials I can think of (\\macpro\username etc) and I can't get it to work. Every other solution I have read said this would fix the problem. I have also gone in and added FQDN macpro.domain.com as one thing suggested. Please help. I am not a Windows guy, but I need this so badly for work this weekend before I loose the chance to demo it. (We use 2007 now, but I am pretty sure 2010 will allow me to do what I need where 2007 won't) Saturday, July 09, 2011 1:32 AM Reply | Quote All replies 0 Sign in to vote H

I tried clicking https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/bc55bbf8-5d78-4e57-a1e9-d3a5640ce99c/dashboard-designer-cannot-retrieve-application-authentication-error?forum=sharepointadminprevious the "RUN DASHBOARD DESIGNER". Another common issue is that Windows/IE is not remembering your credentials to pass them to the application. See this MSDN thread for more info on that. share|improve this answer edited Aug 17 '15 at 9:41 imanabidi 7,00343847 answered Jul 20 '13 at 20:06 mmarie 4,14511026 works from servers in the domain for me –imanabidi Aug 17 '15 at 7:50 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote To solve this, you should ensure you add the site to Local Intranet / Trusted Sites on IE and you add the credentials you use to access your SharePoint site to Windows Credentials Manager. share|improve this answer edited Oct 5 '15 at 13:11 answered Oct 5 '15 at 13:03 Amos Wachanga 33 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. 2007 Hotfix now available(KB944842) → PerformancePoint Server - Dashboard Designer run error (Unauthorized401) Posted on December 27, 2007 by https://radekle.wordpress.com/2007/12/27/performancepoint-server-dashboard-designer-run-error-unauthorized-401/ Radoslaw Lebkowski Last week I had a problem with my PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer. I have installed MS Office PerformancePoint 2007 Monitoring Server on one machine. When I was running the Dashboard Designer on this machine everything was working correctly (by using Monitoring Central Site and button [RUN] cannot retrieve Dashboard Designer downloaded and run well). But when I was trying to run the Dashboard Designer on a user's machine (by using Monitoring Central Site also) when I clicked link to this application in a browser, a browser raised a small message window with the Unauthorized (401) error cannot retrieve application. from the server ("Cannot retrieve application.Authentication error").
