Discussion in 'Sound & 2005 ford expedition cd error Security' started by tdfuller, Jan 12, 2015. tdfuller Member Joined: May 15, 2010 Messages: 46 Likes Received: 5 2003 expedition prndl error How/should I deal with a 6-CD changer that has gone bad and says "CD Error" instead of playing or ejecting CD's? I've had my 2003 Ford Expedition EB for 12 http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/708474-2003-expy-cd-player-problem.html years, and since new. The CD changer has been bulletproof... until today. It has six discs loaded, but I started hearing weird sounds, like tapping when trying to play or eject discs. As of today it refuses to play or eject any disc and says "CD Error." I've looked at other threads on this website. They suggest things like gently http://www.fordforumsonline.com/threads/6-cd-changer-quit-working-suggestions.12717/ trying to partially insert a disc in the door, or, unplugging your battery for 5 minutes. None of that works. With the weird noises, it sounds like something mechanical that moves the discs has broken. I wonder if I should avoid the dealer and go straight to a audio/car stereo shop to have them fix this CD changer, just get a new radio/CD unit (even though my current radio works perfectly but the radio and 6-CD changer are one unit), or some other idea. My Expedition has 112,750 miles, and overall is in very good condition. Thanks for any suggestions. __________________ tdfuller, Jan 12, 2015 #1 Dominick 1 Well-Known Member Respected Member Joined: Dec 26, 2014 Messages: 1,621 Likes Received: 151 Location: Parkersburg Wv tdfuller said: ↑ How/should I deal with a 6-CD changer that has gone bad and says "CD Error" instead of playing or ejecting CD's? Hi there I work at a Ford dealer in AZ,,, when a car or truck comes in with this problem we remove the radio for repairers or replace it with an exchange unit ,,, we do not repaire them ,,, we send them out for repairs ,,,,so you have an internal ford expedition cd problem inside your radio and it needs to be replaced or repaired But to tell you the truth ,Ford does not have a good rep on there radios ,,,they are always breaking down --- and they are very expensive ,,,$450 -$500--,,,so I would not get your radio repaired or replace it with another Ford unit ----instead I would replace it with an after market unit from Best But or some other radio store ---you can get a good unit installed for under $200 that will last you a long time and will do more than your old radio did ,, like play i pod, sat radio , hands free cell, blue tooth ,,, etc -----but if you need some info on how to remove your old radio -or remove it and then try to fish out your c/d stuck inside ,,,then just ask me and I will give you some info on that we can go back and forth on this page Chris chris and other Ford Specialists are ready to help you Ask your own question now Customer: replied7 years ago. how can I get them out?
