Cluster Service Not Starting Windows 2003
> High Availability (Clustering) Question 0 Sign in to vote I have a 2 node active/Passive event id 7024 cluster service cluster. Unfortunately active node rebooted unexpectedly and it is not coming up due to some hardware issues. I cannot start the cluster service on node2 it is https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/249194 showing below event error. I understand the quorum disk is not started in node2, that creating this issue. Please help on this. Thanks in advance. Event Type: Error Event Source: ClusDisk Event Category: None Event ID: 1209 Date: 11/7/2011 Time: 11:17:51 PM User: N/A Computer: CLNODE2 Description: Cluster service is requesting a bus https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/2e8ab7e6-344c-4723-b4fe-e9ef76486949/windows-2003-cluster-service-not-starting?forum=winserverClustering reset for device \Device\ClusDisk0. Monday, November 07, 2011 5:58 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote The error 170 means "The requested resource is in use." This suggests that the other node has a reservation on the quorum disk. If this issue is occurring, it suggests that you have a network communications issue between the cluster nodes as the nodes are fighting with each other to gain access to the quorum. This quorum arbitration should only occur in the event of a network communications failure between the nodes. If all cluster resources are healthy and online on Node1, Iwould suggest disabling cluster service on the Node2 and investigate the network communications problems between the nodes. If your Node1 is dead/dying, I would disable cluster service on this node and reboot it so it stops arbitrating for the quorum. Hope this helps.Visit my blog about multi-site clustering - http://msmvps.com/blogs/jt

Dear Sirs, I have a microsoft cluster with two nodes with Windows 2000 Advanced Server. After a controlled shutdown and next startup, https://sites.google.com/site/wiki2014it/wiki/errorcode5086cluster first node on cluster could not start Cluster Service. However, second node on cluster, is able to boot, and take ownership of all cluster resources. But we can't move resource group (file sharing) to first node and cluster service control is returned to second node. I can see in the event viewer: Event messages Event Type: Error Event Source: ClusSvc Event Category: (128) Event ID: 1009 Date: 18/05/2005 Time: 7:38:57 User: N/A Computer: BILBO Description: The Clustering Service could not join an existing cluster and could not form a new cluster. The Clustering Service has terminated. Data: 0000: de 13 00 00 Þ... As we read in internet, data word of event, indicates windows could not next: Interpret 000013DE in decimal= 5086 and now execute: net helpmsg 5086 and it appears: The quorum disk could not be located by the cluster service More information is next: I can move the "Print sharing" resource group to first node. What happened to cluster? What can I do? If I evict the first node from cluster and resinstall cluster software, will loose the configuration (resources, shares, printers,...)? Some clues I have: Perhaps is a problem on size of quorum log Perhaps is a problem on disk signatures (via dumpcfg) and cluster disk signatures. Find out about "cluster disk device". Perhaps, I must uninstall (evict) the first node and reinstall cluster software? Check hardware...maybe your HBA is dying and will not let your access the cluster disks. You could disable the cluster disk driver and see if the host can still access the disks and filesystem. It might be that the drive letters or disk signatures have changed for this host. If you evict the node and re-install, you will not lose resources, though you may need to re-install applications. This is specific to the individual applications so you'd
