Gepubliceerd op 11 dec. 2015I need your help troubleshooting furnace error Code 31 for Carrier, Bryant, and Payne furnaces. These units have the first digit in short flashes and second digit in long flashes, so make sure it actually says 31 and not 13.What’s the difference?Code 13 is the error for limit switch problems. Code 31 means the pressure draft switch is tripped, assuming you’re using it.They are both pressure faults.Code 13 can be due to a lack of air flow from a clogged air filter, kinked ducts or lack of blowers. Code 31 may come up when the inducer motor is off.So I need to replace a motor.Or flip the limit switch and see if it runs properly. And if it doesn’t?You could touch the two wires around the switch, too, and if the unit works, you know the problem may be a cracked rubber hose, plugged vent, plugged nipple port where the tube connects or a bad pressure switch. At least replacing the switch is cheap. So is duct taping a rubber hose and cleaning a plugged nipple port.Or the unit is shutting off if the vents are blocked. That would cause a lack of air too, so the pressure ch

I have Bryant Plus 80 HE heater. The heater works on and off and when it doesn't work the code comes up 31. I have never worked on a furnace before so all I know how to do is clean it and change the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3sA2_vO9Kw filter. I had a repair man come out the other day and he said I needed a new Furnace control board that cost 400 dollars. I know that isn't much to go on but does this sound like the real problem or could it be something smaller I could maybe fix. I would like to replace the whole furnace in a few years so I hate to spend 400 bucks on it now. Any suggestions would be great, Thank You Advertisement 11-24-2008, 12:26 PM #2 HvacWiz Member http://www.diychatroom.com/f17/code-31-my-bryant-furnace-32525/ Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Northwest Ohio Posts: 287 Rewards Points: 252 View HvacWiz's Album Code 31 is a pressure switch fault, which is usually a simple fix, I would get anthor opinion. Could be blocked vent, bad pressure switch, or blocked pressure switch tubing, or plugged up on in the collector box where the pressure switch hose connects to. So needless to say, 400 bucks later, I have a new board, and the heater is working. I just hope the guy was honest? Atleast it is warm now I guess. Thanks again. 11-25-2008, 06:46 AM #4 dac122 Member Join Date: Sep 2008 Location: Upstate New York Posts: 368 Rewards Points: 250 View dac122's Album $400 isn't too bad if indeed it was the board. The labor to diagnose by process of elimination, labor to replace is probably a couple hours and the cost of the board $100 - $200. If you get a few more years out of the unit you'll get your money's worth. 11-25-2008, 12:42 PM #5 Blue46 Newbie Join Date: Nov 2008 Posts: 3 Rewards Points: 10 View Blue46's Album Thats true, I hope it lasts atleast 2 more years, with this economy so ba
