Windows Could Not Start The Apache2.2 On Local Computer
ask a question Anybody can answer The best answers are voted up and rise to the top A service specific error occured: 1 on trying to start Apache 2.0 server on Windows up vote 1 down vote favorite I installed Apache on Windows 7 (localhost) and it worked fine. Then I went to download some other stuff and later noticed that the Apache windows could not start the service on local computer error 1 server stopped. I went to command prompt (as administrator) and typed net start apache2 It says "The Apache2 service is starting." But before it finishes, I get the error A service specific error occurred: 1. It says that you can type in "NET HELPMSG 3547" for more info, but that doesn't help at all. Things I have tried: Quit Google Drive Sync Quit any and all programs using port 80 (port my server is on) Tried changing the port of the server and got same error message, so I don't think it has anything to do with something else being in the port None of those things have worked. I am confused at why it worked earlier, but now it won't work. windows-7 apache-http-server share|improve this question edited Dec 19 '15 at 18:36 random♦ 10.4k83954 asked Jun 10 '14 at 21:48 user2297366 11927 I'm not the one to judge you, but why don't you use nginx instead? –arielnmz Jun 11 '14 at 8:55 I am using it with coldfusion and it is integrated with apache. –user2297366 Jun 12 '14 at 15:13

All service software is running independently, and not as part of an AMP stack. The data drive has nearly filled up and my systems admin has provisioned a new virtual drive with more space. My task is to copy everything over from the old volume to the new volume. When creating the volume, I ensured that it was created with the same volume type, file system, http://serverfault.com/questions/408349/apache-2-2-on-windows-server-wont-start-after-attempting-to-change-drive-lette block size, etc. I stopped all the relevant services (Apache, MySQL, both of which run from C: but whose data is all located on D:, including logs), and copied all the files over. From here, I've tried two different approaches to getting the services to depend on the new volume, and forget about the old. MySQL has no problems either way, but Apache can't start as a service using either method. Here's what shows up in the System event log: The Apache2.2 service terminated with service-specific error Incorrect function Nothing appears in error.log. First, I tried simply changing the drive letters. I took the old D: and changed it to something arbitrary, and assigned D: to the new volume. This yielded the error above. I tried rebooting the server with the new drive designations, "just in case", but the same error occurred. Because I don't fully understand Windows mount points, I changed the drive letters back to what they were originally, and confirmed that the Apache service starts just fine. Second, I tried simply updating all the Apache and MySQL configuration files. Every occurrence of "D:" (case-insensitive) was changed to F: (the new drive letter). I know the configuration files well, so I know I found every occurrence. The error above occurred again, exactly the same way. In order to get the web server back up and running, I reverted all the changes, and the services successfully started. Some more information I gathered: httpd.exe runs succes
the Apache2.2 Service https://www.sitepoint.com/community/t/apache-service-fails-to-start/5787 fails to start. In looking at the event log http://kb.webtrends.com/articles/Problem/Apache-fails-to-start-with-service-specific-error-1 I see the following error msg.. The Apache2.2 service terminated with service-specific error 1 (0x1). Any idea on what went wrong and how I get the Apache Server running again. Thanks for any help. Dave Brandt could not Dan_Grossman 2010-01-07 18:00:33 UTC #2 There are lots of things that can cause that error. Is there nothing in Apache's error log file (not the Windows event log)? dklynn 2010-01-07 20:51:48 UTC #3 Dave, First, Welcome to SitePoint's Apache forum. As Dan said, there are MANY windows could not things which could have caused the problem. Failure to start is generally a sign that your httpd.conf has some bad syntax in it but a power failure is not a likely source of an error like that. From the lack of any further information, I'd think the problem is that, when you installed Apache, you didn't PREVENT IIS from starting with WinDoze. Check Start | Run and services.msc to see whether IIS has confiscated port 80. If not, then you probably have corrupt files (and a damaged HD) due to the power surges when the power came back on. Sorry for that news. Regards, DK linux7802 2010-01-12 16:49:18 UTC #4 Have you tried config test...?
