vote favorite 2 I have a web application that I am attempting to upgrade to .net 4.0. I took the application and opened it via Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 and selected the upgrade path for that application. The application uses the AjaxControlToolkit. Now that the upgrade is complete when I attempt to access a page I get the error message: "Could not load file or assembly 'AjaxControlToolkit' or one of could not load file or assembly or one of its dependencies. an attempt was made to load a program its dependencies. Access is denied." I've tried: Restarting my machine Clean Solution Removing all files in Temporary ASP.Net Files Relaxing permsissions (added Everyone with Full Control) on the Bin directory, the Temporary ASP.Net Files directory Removing and readding the reference to the AjaxControlToolkit DLL The related web.config entries for the AjackControlToolkit are:

Could Not Load File Or Assembly Or One Of Its Dependencies The System Cannot Find The File Specified
on our production web servers, we get the "Could not load file or could not load file or assembly 'webactivatorex assembly App_Web…" error. There's a long thread over at ASP.NET about this issue, but I thought a simple post may could not load file or assembly iis help others running into this problem. I've found an quick and easy, albeit not ideal fix for this problem. There's supposedly a hotfix for this, but there are reports that this won't http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1904263/could-not-load-file-or-assembly-ajaxcontroltoolkit-after-upgrade-to-net-4-0 actually fix the error. Until a good long term fix comes around, here's a quick way to fix this problem. Delete all temporary ASP.NET files, by removing the folders under the following directory: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\ Your mileage may vary (win directory differences, etc) -Brendan About Brendan Tompkins Brendan runs CodeBetter.Com. Access is denied. Aug could not 21, 2009 09:08 AM|shiftynick|LINK There's plenty of information out there about this error. I haven't seen anything specific to IIS7. The error is random, but after it happens once, it continues for every subsequent request until the site is restarted. We have 3 servers in a farm, this happens on all of them. We are on 2008 64bit. App pool is in Integrated mode and the app pool could not load identity is Network Service. Some pages use impersonation on a different user. I have given both of these users full access to the Temporary ASP folders, there is no active virus scan, indexing is off... I've been working at this for a week and everyday I think its fixed, and every morning I get back in to this happening on a server or 2. Also this is only happening in our production environment, our other environments are not experiencing this. Error Page: Server Error in '/' Application.
