Check_nrpe Error - Could Not Complete Ssl Handshake. Ubuntu
NRPE daemon process running under xinetd on amazon ec2 instance and nagios server on my local machine. The check_nrpe -H [amazon public IP] gives this error: CHECK_NRPE: Error - Could not complete SSL handshake. Both Nrpe are same versions. Both are compiled with this option: ./configure --with-ssl=/usr/bin/openssl --with-ssl-lib=/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/ "allowed host" entry contains my local IP address. What could be the possible reason of this error now?? linux ssl nagios nrpe nagiosxi share|improve check_nrpe error - could not complete ssl handshake. localhost this question edited Jul 7 at 9:55 Harikrishnan 4,33744293 asked Dec 11 '13 at 13:23 Dushyant Gupta 1871115 2 Are you sure you don't reach your Amazon server with a public ip ? As far as Amazon server is in the Cloud i think you go through the Internet to query it. You should try to add your public ip address in "allowed host" list –user2196728 Dec 11 '13 at 13:58 I have added the public IP address of my machine in the 'allowed host' category. But the error remains. Nagios server is running on my local IP address(172.*.*.*) and not on public IP address(121.*.*.*)(sorry if saying this is doesn't make sense, I am new to all this). i.e. this works -----> 172.*.*.*/nagios but not this ---> 121.*.*.*/nagios –Dushyant Gupta Dec 12 '13 at 7:22 one more point: when I run the command "check_nrpe -H (my amazon public IP)" from my amazon system, it still shows the same error message. –Dushyant Gupta Dec 12 '13 at 7:29 add a comment| 10 Answers 10 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted To check if you have access to it at all attempt a simple telnet on the address:port, a ping or traceroute to see where i

I'm using Nagios v3.0.6 on Ubuntu Server v14.10, and latest could not complete stable version of NSClient++ 0.4.3. Here are the snippets from the config files: define command { command_name check_ph_mem command_line /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_nrpe -H $HOSTADDRESS$ -p 5666 -c CheckMEM -a MaxWarn=$ARG1$% MaxCrit=$ARG2$% ShowAl$ } and define service{ host_name remote-win-host service_description Check Memory NRPE check_command check_ph_mem use generic-service } Nagios could not retrieve any information from this command because when I execute /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_nrpe -H 192.168.1.150 it gives back following error: CHECK_NRPE: Error - Could not complete SSL handshake. I've tried with reconfiguring part of C:\Program Files\NSClient++\nsclient.ini in following way: [/settings/NRPE/server] allow arguments = true allowed hosts = 192.168.1.15 port = 5666 but it gives back the same error. I've already read dozens similar topics and tried different advices, but I still have the same issue. Do you have any idea how to fix this? ssl nagios nrpe share|improve this question edited Feb 18 '15 at 12:15 asked Feb 17 '15 at 8:27 Marko 16113 The version of check_nrpe (2.10? 2.12?) in Ubuntu 9.10 might be too old to work with the 0.4 branch of nsclient++. Can you try a newer/supported version of Ubuntu?
