What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Open any extension from http://productforums.google.com/d/topic/chrome/0SypkJmjtWI chrome webstore Eg. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/aknpkdffaafgjchaibgeefbgmgeghloj?hl=en 2.As and when I click on Add to chrome on extension page 3.chrome first downloads the extension, then tries to add it What is the expected result? Extension installs and user can use the extension What happens instead? I get the following error : Could not install package:'COULD_NOT_GET_TEMP_DIRECTORY' Please provide any additional information below. I can see the following folder : C:\Documents and Settings\Aditya\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Temp as read-only, I think its normal. I see similar error on non dev installation. And One more point I see this problem on FAT 32. When you said you have been working with extensions, did you change the folder where extensions are installed? Sounds like your Chrome profile is corrupt. I aven't changed the folder where Extensions are installed. In fact, I don't know where the extensions are installed. What I mean is that I were able to install several extensions in the past till yesterday, whe I got the error described. I've renamed the Default folder as you said and still getting the same error.
