pipes..." Ratzebrock (IS/IT--Management) (OP) 7 Dec 09 06:05 Hi community,in our company we use Arcserve 11.5 to store our data, including exchange mailboxes and stores. We save 3 different store databases daily. One of them will not be saved correctly for weeks. When i try to restore it, i cannot choose the database. All i cann see is a folder called "dcache.bi_" and when i open it i see folders called private and public. Normally i will see a folder called "shared mailboxes" with several subfolders and databases. When i look at the joblog i see the errormessage "converting protocol to named pipes due to connection error" at the point when the job wants so start. So i have no functionally backup of the complete store "shared mailboxes" that holds lots of user mailboxes.Running an extra job that saves this store only wont also help.Any suggestions? Many thanks RE: Arcserve 11.5 - "converting connection protocol to named pipes..." davidmichel (TechnicalUser) 8 Dec 09 13:34 First check Exchange to make sure it is fine. diagnosing network connection and problems. The TNSPING and TRCROUTE utilities test connectivity. The log and trace files keep track of the interaction between network components as errors occur. Evaluating this information will help you to diagnose and troubleshoot network problems. This chapter describes common testing procedures and network errors, and outlines procedures for resolving problems. It also describes methods for logging and tracing error information to diagnose and troubleshoot more complex network problems. This chapter contains the following topics: Understanding Automatic Diagnostic Repository Diagnosing Oracle Net Services Resolving the Most Common Error Messages for Oracle Net Services Troubleshooting Tips for Oracle Net Services Example of Troubleshooting a TNS-12154 Error Troubleshooting Network Problems Using Log and Trace Files Logging Error Information for Oracle Net Services Tracing Error Information for Oracle Net Services Contacting Oracle Support Services Understanding Automatic Diagnostic Repository The automatic diagnostic repository (ADR) is a systemwide tracing and logging central repository. The repository is a file-based hierarchical data store for depositing diagnostic information, including network tracing and logging information. The ADR home is the unit of the ADR directory that is assigned to an instance of an Oracle product. Each database instance has its own ADR home. Similarly, each listener, Oracle Connection Manager, and client instance has its own ADR home. The location of an ADR home is given by the following path, which starts at the ADR base directory: diag/product_type/product_id/instance_id Table 16-1 lists the values of the path components for an Oracle Net Listener instance.
