If you follow this forum and check on user Odalis, you'll see that he has a perfect description as well as software posted to assist you with the solution to this error. It may require you to sign on the forum—but it's free, and you will find plenty of further information on those forums. This page has Apple's answer to your problem, using a Mac. Each time the restore was about to complete, the error was coming up and I was being prompted to restore the phone again: iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.
