Did you encounter a "Could not complete your request because of a program error." pop up while you were trying to make changes or save a PSD in Adobe Photoshop? This is definitely a bug in Photoshop that is annoying and does not provide much to go off in terms of troubleshooting. While there could be many reasons for this error to occur, one of the common reasons is the PSD you are working with uses a different Type

Could Not Complete Your Request Because The File Is Not Compatible With This Version Of Photoshop
I got this error while trying to save a file under Photoshop CS. It happened once... then went away. The very next photoshop could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document day... I got the same error while trying to open any (and I mean) any file in Photoshop... I'm talking new files or old files, JPEG's, PNG's, TIFF's, etc. I deleted preferences, settings, all of that. Tried https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUNKXez0riE booting up without plugs installed, etc. All of the things one would typically go through to fix the problem. I even went so far as to remove every single Adobe application from my box (and all of their related support files) and reinstall everything. Exact same error. Then... intermittently... I could open or save files again... just to have it go back to the same problem as before. This was really bugging me. I https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/244/855100 then decided to try and run Photoshop that was sitting on another workstation via the network... exact same error. But even stranger than this is... that Photoshop that was running PERFECTLY previous to all of this... no longer works either!! It now shows up with the same error. Really, really bizarre. Anyone else have this issue?Return to posts indexReport Post •Re: "Could not complete your request because of a program error."by IsabelleVt on Aug 28, 2005 at 5:04:11 pmI started getting the same message yesterday when I tried to save some .psd files I had been working on. Couldn't find a way to get around it and lost them. I replaced the Preferences file with a backup copy I keep on my desktop and all worked as it should until later in the day when I tried to "save as" a file and got the same message. I tried just "save" and that worked. I don't know what is happening (or why), but hope I don't have to reinstall Photoshop. Sounds like you're really knowledgeable, so if you find a reason (or fix) for the problem, please let me know. I definitely don't have knowledge about debugging, so need all the help I can get.Return to posts indexReport Post•Re: "Could not complete your request because of a program error."by TerryL on

I am running a 1.25 GHz G4 with both OS9 and X installed, but basically run everything in X. Plenty of RAM - 1024 MB. The only weird thing that's happened lately was an unexpected power outage during a storm. That wiped out some of my preferences in my web browser, but that was the only effect I was aware of -- and this is the first time since that happened that I've tried this particular operation. Everything else in Photoshop seems to be working okay... Suggestions? Thanks in advance... This can happen when you have used UNIX-unfriendly characters like slashes, commas, hyphens etc. in your names. Ann_Shelbourne@adobeforums.com Guest June 1st,04:02 AM #3 Re: Could not complete Export command because of a program error OSX Hi Ann -- all my file names are alpha numeric, both the old ones and new. And I haven't made any changes to the type of files I've been working on (downloads from my digital camera) or how I've handled them. Like I said, I'm doing exactly the same thing I've done successfully several hundred (if not a thousand)
Error-Codes What should I do if I receive the following error: "Could not complete the Export Command because of program error" Posted by Larisa Bolli on 27 July 2009 02:47 PM The error message: "Could not complete the Export Command because of program error" occurs when there is a problem loading the export plugin correctly. The second message: "Unexpected program error: Communication to the Export Plugin seem to have failed. If free memory is tight quiet some programs and try again". This tends to occur combined with the first message primarily in cases where there are two versions of the plugins installed at the same time. This still looks like an installation problem. If you have Photoshop installed on the "D" drive: 1) Open the Photoshop 6.0 folder: Look for the Plug-ins folder. 2) Open the Plug-ins folder: Look for the PANTONE COLORVISION Plugins folder (It should be visible inside the Plug-ins folder and not anywhere else) 3) Open the PANTONE COLORVISION Plugins folder It should contain these four items only. a. ProfilerPLUS-RGB b. ProfilerPLUS-RGB Export c. ProfilerPLUS-CMYK d. ProfilerPLUS-CMYK Export 4) Next, check to see that the additional files needed by ProfilerPLUS are correctly installed. These are contained in a folder named Horses. This folder must be installed into the following location or a failure could occur. C:/Program Files/Horses 5) Next, you should use "Find files and folders" to verify that there are no duplicate copies of the ProfilerPlugins installed. Search on the keyword "ProfilerPLUS-RGB" (this unique) a) You will find the export plugins in the PANTONE COLORVISION Plugins folder. b) If there are any other copies of the plugins, delete them 6) Finally, if you have upgraded from an earlier version of Profiler RGB Use "Find files and folders" ro search for a folder named "MatchLock" and delete it. Use "Find files and folders" ro search for files named "Profiler II" and "Profiler II export", delete them also. 7) The above steps insure that the ProfilerPLUS compo
