I tried deleting and keeping the user files. I have about 40GB hard drive space so that shouldn't be an issue. the account's files have been emptied. I booted to safe mode and the account is not listed there. Any help is greatly appreciated. could not complete the operation due to error 80070402 Responses to "could not complete the operation due to error 80070402" Nathan LinkBack Thread Tools Display http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/136591-45-error-80070402-deleting-user-account-home Modes « Previous Thread | Next Thread » Thread Tools Show Printable Version Email this Page Display Modes Linear Mode Switch to Hybrid Mode Switch to Threaded Mode Posting Rules You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts BB code is On Smilies are On [IMG] code is On HTML code is OffTrackbacks are On Pingbacks are On Refbacks are On Forum Jump User Control Panel Private Messages Subscriptions Who's Online Search Forums Forums http://www.realgeek.com/forums/could-not-complete-the-operation-due-to-error-80070402-a-348456.html Home Operating Systems Apple Macintosh Windows Vista Windows NT/2000/XP Windows 95/98/Me Linux / Unix DOS/PDA/Other Operating Systems Mobiles Phones & Applications Mobile Applications Mobile Phones Web & Technology Tips, tricks and tweaks News & Views Gaming Digital Home Open Source Real Geek Cafe Introduction Events Geek Culture Hardware Desktops Laptops Peripherals Networking and Wireless Overclocking and PC Modding Software Security tools Web Browsers E-mail, Chat and VoIP Mac Software PC utilities Office and Productivity Audio & Video Design & Photography Archives Operating Systems Windows Vista Windows Vista Install & Setup Windows Vista Hardware & Devices Windows Vista Performance & Maintenance Windows Vista Security Windows Vista Networking & Sharing Windows Vista Mail Windows Vista Games Windows Vista File Management Windows Vista Administration Windows Vista Printers & Scanners Windows XP Wind

I am the sole user of this computer and its administrator. About a year ago I was having some problems and ATT support, in helping me solve them, created an Administrator User Account (in addition to my regular could not complete User account (Keith). When I restart my computer now I have to chose between Keith (the only account I use) and "Administrator". I would like to get rid of "Adminstrator" User user showing up, so I just boot up to a desktop. (I don't use a password to get into this home computer. But the User "Administrator" does not show up under Control Panel--User Accounts (only Keith shows up there). So I can't delete the account in the usual way. &quo video help | post reply | read more Deleting a user account (XP Pro) location: winsecrets.com - date: December 3, 2008 I added an account to my XP, and when I logged back on, I could access only the new account, and not the original account.
