minute: Sign up IE9 AJAX error: “Could not complete the operation due to error c00c023f” up vote 0 down vote favorite I have an AJAX request running a PHP script and I want to handle situations were the request returns state 500. My code is working on Chrome and Firfox, but on IE9, if I add a condition if(httpRequest.status==500) I get this could not complete the operation due to error 8070000c JavaScript error: Could not complete the operation due to error c00c023f. I have a loading image on the page, and because of this error I'm not able to replace the image, and the page seems to keep loading. Just as quoted here: Especially if you're displaying a "loading animation" or anything similar while the request is being executed. The result in my case was that it seemed as the page never stopped loading First, here is my AJAX call code: function sendRequest(url, params, divToChange) { // code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { var httpRequest = new XMLHttpRequest(); } else // code for IE6, IE5 { var httpRequest = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } //open the request and prepare variables for the PHP method being activated on server side// httpRequest.open("POST", url, true); //Set request headers for POST command// httpRequest.setRequestHeader("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); if(divToChange != "false") { httpRequest.onreadystatechange=function() { if(httpRequest.readyState==4 && httpRequest.status==200) { document.getElementById(divToChange).innerHTML=httpRequest.responseText; eval(document.getElementById("runscript").innerHTML); } else if (httpRequest.status==500) { document.getElementById(divToChange).innerHTML=httpRequest.responseText; //eval the lang variable from the php script. eval(document.getElementById("runscript").innerHTML); if(lang == "en") { document.getElementById(divToChange).innerHTML=' An error accured, please try again later'; } else { document.getElementById(divToChange).i

I googled it, and found that it has something to do with setting the proper character set encoding, but I am loading an image with this (the url would end up being something like http://www.mysite.com/images/this_image.jpg). How do I get this to work in IE? var originalSRC = $("#bigImage").attr("src"); $(".tinyThumb").mouseenter(function(){ $("#oiLoad").html(''); var oldSRC = $(this).attr("src"); var newSRC = "http://"+window.location.host+oldSRC.replace("tiny_thumbs/xtn_",""); $("#bigImage").load(newSRC,function(e){ $("#oiLoad").empty(); $("#bigImage").attr("src",newSRC); }); }); ajax internet-explorer xmlhttprequest share|improve this question asked Dec 22 '10 at 16:48 Atomix 97532040 1 Not realy an answer but I did notice you are not closing your img tag. $("#oiLoad").html(''); Should be $("#oiLoad").html(''); –Agile Jedi Dec 22 '10 at 16:56 @Agile: Actually, that is the answer. IE will choke om that. –SLaks Dec 22 '10 at 17:00 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote

When fetching images you'll need to set up your requested page header like this: ReplyDeleteAnonymous8:42 PMsolution that works for me was:add the control that generates the event to PostBackTrigger in triggers section in Update PanelReplyDeleteAnonymous12:50 AMThanks, works for me :)ReplyDeleteAnonymous9:57 AMHi NevyanI got this error when using XMLHTTP to call an ASP page, and the page tried to return accented characters etc. I tried messing with code pages but it didn't change anything. At last I figured out that Server.URLEncode was the solution. That way, XMLHTTP is guaranteed to receive only valid URL characters.ReplyDeleteAnonymou
