I would check the document you are trying to serve for the char-type and other than that I would check with the server admin if you do not have access to the server-side code. share|improve this answer answered May 21 '12 at 19:20 Steve Binder 88276 header('Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1'); That's what I ahve. –Jake May 21 '12 at 19:36 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. My code is working on Chrome and Firfox, but on IE9, if I add a condition if(httpRequest.status==500) I get this JavaScript http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12414982/ie9-ajax-error-could-not-complete-the-operation-due-to-error-c00c023f error: Could not complete the operation due to error c00c023f. I have a loading image on the page, and because of this error I'm not able to replace the image, and the page seems to keep loading. Just as quoted here: Especially if you're displaying a "loading animation" or anything similar while the request is being executed. The result in my case was that it seemed as the page never stopped loading First, here is my AJAX call code: function sendRequest(url, params, divToChange) { // code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { var httpRequest = new XMLHttpRequest(); } else // code for IE6, IE5 { var httpRequest = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } //open the request and prepare variables for the PHP method being activated on server side// httpRequest.open("POST", url, true); //Set request headers for POST command// httpRequest.setRequestHeader("Content-type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"); if(divToChange != "false") { httpRequest.onreadystatechange=function() { if(httpRequest.readyState==4 && httpRequest.status==200) { document.getElementById(divToChange).innerHTML=httpRequest.responseText; eval(document.getElementById("runscript").innerHTML); } else if (httpRequest.status==500) { document.getElementById(divToChange).innerHTML=httpRequest.responseText; //eval the lang variable from the php script. eval(document.getElementById("runscript").innerHTML); if(lang == "en") { document.getElementById(divToChange).innerHTML=' An error accured, please try again later'; } else { document.getElementById(divToChange).innerHTML=' שגיאה הת

There is a page which has an Ajax call. The call is initiated from an external .js file. The Ajax call works fine in windows xp.When I tried tobrowse the application in Embedded XP (XPe IE 7) I got the error "Could not complete the operation due to the error c00ce56e" when the Ajax call fires. When I search for the solution over Internet, could not complete many posts are there saying, this error is due to the encoding format. This application uses UTF-8 encoding format. Even when I changed this format to 'iso-8859-1', the error didn't resolved. Can anyone help me to resolve this ? Murali. Reply hareshambali... IE7 is very strict on naming of the charsets. "ISO8859_1" is the canonical representation of the Latin-1 character encoding string in the Java language and class libraries. The standard that is defined by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority, however, is "ISO-8859-1", which is not an accepted alias. But whilst configuring My Account -> Preferences -> User Interface Language and Location as Turkish and saving the changes, this error (*"Could not complete the operation due to error c00ce56e"*) is displayed as soon as pressing the OK button. The issue occured on a Win XP-installed machine with IE7 and IE 8.0.6001.18702 version but not on a Win7-installed one with IE 8.768.0.7600.16385. The UTF-8 encoding solition did not work. The application works fine in firefox or google chrome. Is it possible to solve the problem?
