JET errors performing Authoritative Restore Discussion in 'Windows XP' started by p.shepherd, Feb 28, 2005. https://forums.techguy.org/threads/jet-errors-performing-authoritative-restore.335665/ Thread Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement p.shepherd Thread Starter Joined: Mar 18, 2003 Messages: 2 Hi all Hope someone can help me. I am following the Microsoft procedures for performing an authoritative restore https://searchcode.com/codesearch/view/1161354/ of part of Active Directory. ( http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/docs/disaster.doc ) OS is Windows 2000 Advanced server SP4, I am performing this procedure on a single DC, there are another 2 in the domain. (This is only could not for the purpose of ensuring we can do this later if necessary.) I have used NTBackup to backup System disk and System State. I boot to DS Restore mode, restore System Disk and System State. Then restore System State again but to alternative location as instructed in docs. I launch ntdsutil and enter "authoritative restore" then I enter "restore subtree OU=External,DC=fpt,DC=fptgroup,DC=net" and this generates the error: Opening DIT database... could not initialize Could not initialize the Jet engine: Jet Error -1030. Authoritative Restore failed. Error 8000ffff parsing input - illegal syntax? I cannot find anything helpful relating to this error, searching Microsoft or Google. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can start tackling this problem. Any advice would be gratefully received.
