Once the WMI classes rebuilt then again installed the unified message role on to the machine. This has been resolved. Describe your situation in more details instead of clipped and scattered info in more threads. My guess is that you have used wrong driver for network adapter. Use original driver of your server vendor. Always provide more information, namely errors and warnings from Event log list. Always describe, what you did before the problem appeared and give relevant configuration information. (Servers have two NIC's and the cluster is configured to http://serverfault.com/questions/82881/cannot-add-second-host-to-a-network-load-balance-cluster run in unicast mode) I can configure the cluster on either of the hosts and add the host on which I create the cluster. However, as soon as I try to add the other node (using NLB manager), I get the following: When I try to connect to the second host, an "Access denied" message appears. The logon dialog requests that I enter the username/password for an account on the host with Administrator priviledges. When I give valid administrator credentials, I get the message: "The RPC server is unavailable on the specified computer". windows-server-2008 cluster nlb share|improve this question asked Nov 9 '09 at 13:35 alanben 14315 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted Turns out that the problem is simply UAC (User Account Control). The problem is not experienced if you: Use the Administrator account Turn off UAC and use an account in the Administrator group. (I'm surprised that this is not well known, but I would guess that the Administrator account is used to configure NLB,
running wkk3 SP1 fully patched. From a third machine a use the NLB wizard to build the cluster. I enter the parameters and when I enter the first member IP@ I http://www.winvistatips.com/threads/nlb-error.775818/ get: could not locate NLB on the specified computer. But I can see that NLB is installed (not enabled) but installed. Did I disable some service I shoulnd't have? From a hardening perspective, what are the services I should not disable in order to get NLB to work? Thanks Paulo Paulo, Jul 28, 2005 #1 Advertisements Raffe Felts Guest To address your first issue, I would start by trying to configure could not NLB manually on the problem node in network properties. Once you can or can't get it to join the cluster, you will hopefully generate some addition errors to help fine the root of the problem. If you haven't used the command line with nlb before, try the below commands on the problem node: wlbs display wlbs query wlbs start wlbs stop -- Raffe Felts - IT Professional - Charlotte, NC "Paulo" wrote: > could not locate Hi everybody, > > I'm trying to build a 2003 NLB cluster. The 2 Machines are running wkk3 SP1 > fully patched.
