Unspecified error". Microsoft Office for Developers > Excel for Developers Question 0 Sign in to vote Hi, I had created application using VBA that works fine in excel 2003 and 2007, it has multiple forms, one with6 tabs andcalculations on spreedsheetsbut then start using excel 2010 it's running, but it sort of have time limit how many times I could run it, and then it starts crashing giving me various messages. Most common is "Fatal error". Microsoft forms. The other one "Could not set the RowSource property. Unspecified error". File is about 7.7 MB. Already Tried: Try to rebuild all forms in 2010, but copied code from the previus versions of excel, insert msg in front of each precedure to make sure it isn't running in loops. Are you using a REFEDIT control ? Wednesday, June 08, 2011 11:48 AM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote I am not using REFEDIT control, do I need to? My users will never have any of the sheets open, sheets used only as database. I will try to export all forms, modules, classes and then import these to a fresh XLAM/XLSM workbook, and let you know if it works. Please have a look at this KB article: Run-Time Error When You Set RowSource Property And try the workaround to see if it can fix your issue. If not, would you like to post your code to let me repro the issue on my side? I look forward to hearing of you. Best Regards, Calvin Gao [MSFT] MSDN Community Support | Feedback to us Get o

I have 2 other listboxes named "List_eTrained" and "List_eNotTrained" which list the Training completed and Training not yet completed for the selected Employee. When I click Name items, it updates both listboxes with information (using "AddItem"). Before it updates, I use this code to clear the info listbox items: VB: TrainingDetails.List_eTrained.Clear TrainingDetails.List_eNotTrained.Clear When I run the form and click on various entries, it works as expected. At random though, I get this: Run-time error '-2147467259 (80004005)': Unspecified error. And only this line is highlighted in Debug mode: TrainingDetails.List_eNotTrained.Clear Sometimes it happens after going through several names, sometimes it happens when clicking the 2nd or 3rd name. It's only happening on the "List_eNotTrained" line though--the other line is fine--which has me really puzzled. I'm hoping someone else has run into this before and might know what's causing this random, unspecified error..... Thanks for any help or ideas you can provide! Jon Peltier Peltier Technical Services, Inc., Copyright © 2016. In recent months I have encountered a particularly troublesome error. It occurs in Excel 2003 and 2007 (and perhaps in earlier versions, but http://peltiertech.com/unspecified-painfully-frustrating-error/ I don't recall any such cases). The error is heralded by an unusually unhelpful error message, even my Microsoft's standards: Microsoft Visual Basic - System Error &H80004005 (-2147467259). Unspecified error. Pardon my French, http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/excel-questions/924904-intermittent-rowsource-issue.html but WTF? To rub salt into the wound, this is followed up with an Out of Memory error: Sometimes these occur once, sometimes twice, when Excel is started, when a workbook with code could not is opened, or when an add-in is opened. Association with RefEdit Controls Closer examination sheds some light on the problem. It seems to be related to our old friend, the RefEdit control. If a workbook or add-in has a UserForm with a RefEdit, this error may occur. When the error occurs, it may be impossible to view the UserForm in the VB Editor, or if the could not set UserForm can be viewed, any RefEdits have been stripped off the form. UserForms without RefEdit controls can be viewed with no problems. On a computer that experiences the problem, the RefEdit library (refedit.dll) is not available in the references under the VB Editor's Tools menu, and sometimes it turns up as a MISSING reference in this list. The RefEdit library is also not found in the list of Additional Controls which can be added to the VBE's Controls Toolbox. If the RefEdit control had been present on the Controls Toolbox, its place may be taken by a gray square with a tooltip of "Unknown". Interestingly enough, the RefEdit library is present on the machine, in the Microsoft Office program directory. But the library is apparently not accessible. There have been some recent changes in the RefEdit control, I believe on more than one occasion, but I have never documented the changes. There are no outwardly visible differences in the control, but the file size has changed, the file created or modified date has changed, and the file version has changed. I've created a stock controller workbook which has multiple userforms for adding/removing different bits of data. Now if i open the file fresh everythings fine, no errors, everything populates, pulls and pushes correctly. But, say I add a load of items, save the workbook, close the workbook but leave excel open (for me to drag a duplicate file in to open) then when i next open a file (of the same type) it always errors on setting the rowsource. I've double checked that the rowsource string is still correct and it is, and it doesn't matter what userform is loaded, if it has a listbox set by rowsource then it errors. But if the workbook is closed AND excel is closed the next one doesn't error. 'Could not set the RowSource property. Unspecified error' Now when this error occurred i tried a swapping out rowsource for the other commands to populate it, .List = same error, .Additem = works but ends up as a critical error and excel crashes. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated, the project is finished if i can resolve this. Below is an example of one of the listbox routines. Code: Sub Link_AnG_Mgr_ListBox() '--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ' Procedure : Link_AnG_Mgr_ListBox ' Author : ' Date : 16/12/2015 ' Purpose : Format & Link the listbox to its source table '--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Const RoutineName As String = "Link_AnG_Mgr_ListBox" Dim tmp_Rng As Range '//Invoke error handling If ErrHandling = True Then On Error GoTo ErrHandler Else On Error GoTo 0 '//Reference column range Set tmp_Rng = AnG_TargetTbl.List
