Today I rebooted the machine for maintanance but after regsvr32 polstore dll server 2003 the startup IPSEC service didn't start. When I tried to start the service IPSEC service I got the error: The system cannot the ipsec driver has entered secure mode find the file specified. I found a nice howto that resolved my issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912023 In my registry I was unable to find the subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\IPSec\Policy\Local I just registered the polstore.dll library and then I http://www.nutstech.info/2013/01/how-to-fix-ipsec-service-does-not-start.html was able to start the IPSEC service. My question is: who deleted the registry subkey? An interruption that occurs when the policy is being written to the disk may cause the corruption. To back track , in case of suspicion to some one i do agree with Joson Zhou in case you have had implemented a good & effective audit logging poli
