Could Not Complete Your Request Because The File Is Not Compatible With This Version Of Photoshop
Joined: Jan 24, 2009 Messages: 17 Hi again! So for a while my sister has been complaining photoshop could not complete your request because the smart object is not directly editable that her Photoshop hasn't been working. I checked it out and the problem is that whenever she tries to open a file or make a photoshop could not complete your request because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered new one, the program comes up with: "Adobe Photoshop Could not complete your request due to a program error." I virus scanned, uninstalled/installed the Photoshop more than 5 times, restarted the computer a million times, and nothing came up. Plus, I tried https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/2566296 looking for an answer on Google but all that came up was stuff for Macs. Anyone wanna help out? Oh yeah its a Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit, Dell Inspiron 1525 kaihou, Aug 2, 2009 #1 Sponsor fairnooks Banned Joined: Oct 1, 2007 Messages: 5,251 I would try creating a new user profile with admin rights and see if Photoshop will behave normally from that user account. If it does then its something about the user profile giving it fits. If not then https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-photoshop-cs2-program-error.848632/ the program must be corrupt or there is something system-wide that interfers with that function. Maybe try disabling DEP but that's just a guess to try. There's plenty of free space on the drive? fairnooks, Aug 2, 2009 #2 kaihou Thread Starter Joined: Jan 24, 2009 Messages: 17 Well, I found out that it works on the Guest user profile... so what the heck do I do now? Oh yeah there's a lot of space on the drive. And I have no idea what a DEP is xD kaihou, Aug 2, 2009 #3 slipe Joined: Jun 27, 2000 Messages: 6,832 Try Ctrl+Alt+Shift when you boot the program. It should let you reset to preferences to default. That might not fix the problem, but it is an easy thing to try. slipe, Aug 2, 2009 #4 kaihou Thread Starter Joined: Jan 24, 2009 Messages: 17 Nope. Nothing happens when I press Ctrl+Alt+Shift :/ kaihou, Aug 2, 2009 #5 kaihou Thread Starter Joined: Jan 24, 2009 Messages: 17 Actually, I tried it again and something about "Scratch Disk" or something popped up and I changed the first two settings from "Startup" to "C:/"... No clue what I just did but I felt like I had to do something... Now I can't get whatever popped up before to pop up again. And apparently it my internet browser closes everytime I press Ctrl+Alt+Shift o.o kaihou, Aug 2, 2009 #6 slipe Joined: Jun 27, 2000 Messages: 6,832 Photoshop should not do anything wi

It happened once... then went away. The very next day... I got the same error while trying to open any (and I mean) any file in Photoshop... I'm talking new files or old files, JPEG's, PNG's, TIFF's, etc. I deleted preferences, settings, all of that. Tried booting up without plugs installed, etc. All of the things one could not would typically go through to fix the problem. I even went so far as to remove every single Adobe application from my box (and all of their related support files) and reinstall everything. Exact same error. Then... intermittently... I could open or save files again... just to have it go back to the same problem as before. This was really bugging me. I then decided to try and run Photoshop that was sitting on another workstation via the network... exact could not complete same error. But even stranger than this is... that Photoshop that was running PERFECTLY previous to all of this... no longer works either!! It now shows up with the same error. Really, really bizarre. Anyone else have this issue?Return to posts indexReport Post •Re: "Could not complete your request because of a program error."by IsabelleVt on Aug 28, 2005 at 5:04:11 pmI started getting the same message yesterday when I tried to save some .psd files I had been working on. Couldn't find a way to get around it and lost them. I replaced the Preferences file with a backup copy I keep on my desktop and all worked as it should until later in the day when I tried to "save as" a file and got the same message. I tried just "save" and that worked. I don't know what is happening (or why), but hope I don't have to reinstall Photoshop. Sounds like you're really knowledgeable, so if you find a reason (or fix) for the problem, please let me know. I definitely don't have knowledge about debugging, so need all the help I can get.Return to posts indexReport Post•Re: "Could not complete your request because of a program error."by TerryL on Sep 1, 2005 at 8:38:54 pmDid you try using a Save As and renaming the photos?
