I would suggest you use the ip, or, just the main domain name in your ftp client for connecting, as the ftp. is pointing to another server. Need help with your server? PM ME! get this warning: "DNS lookup for giovinoinc.com failed. DNS is the network service that translates a server name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing access to the network." It doesn't prompt me for my password as it should. I have tried with FTP, FTP-SSL and SFTP and I always get this message, with no prompt for including the password. The network I'm on doesn't have firewalls that I know of, as it suggests in this warning message. I've searched online but it doesn't seem to be a common problem. I don't know where to input my password! jared_smith88 2014-12-31 21:04:13 UTC #2 saranataliac: giovinoinc.com that websites DNS does not resolve. That's the issue. It technically does not exist and so cyberduck as well as the browser cannot resolve it. Even a trace route from my command line returns unknown host. You either need to use and IP address or a valid domain. michael_a_hinckley 2015-01-11 14:51:07 UTC #3 I'm having the same exact issue. I purchased my domain on Gator Host as instructed. Is there a wait period before the domain becomes "active" or "usable"? jared_smith88 2015-01-11 19:41:51 UTC #4 Not usually, but the domain can take as much as 24 hrs to propagate across the globe. Basically when you access a domain you hop through 5-20 servers searching for the quickest route from your current location. Each one of those servers need to know about that DNS entry and there are hundreds of thousands of these servers spear world wide., But that might not be the issue. So if it doesn't resolve wishing 1 day, post here I can help you diagnose. aguilar_daniel 2015-01-13 20:53:55 UTC #5 @saranataliac, @michael_a_hinckley I had the same problem for several days, use PORT: 2222 (SFTP) . It took me so long to find this out. Home Categories FAQ/Guidelines Terms of Service Privacy Policy Powered by Discourse, best viewed with JavaScript enabled Back to Courses
