Hosting provider tells everything is ok, also firewall (hope they know what they say). Is there maybe something in code that has to be changed? I have newest drupal release (7.24). When you try to send an email from the SMTP configuration page, does it work? I suggest you to enable the SMTP debug available on the SMTP configuration page and then try to send an email.
