When compiling the solution, the website gives the message: Could not get dependencies for project reference 'MyLibrary'. This does not stop the wbsite compiling and running until I try and build it with a TFS build, when this error message fails the build. What does this mean and how can I get round it? asp.net tfs msbuild tfsbuild share|improve this question asked May 14 '09 at 13:35 simon831 1,63931737

In this case just edited the vs 2010 project with notepad, and changed the ToolsVersion="4.0" to ToolsVersion="3.5" share|improve this answer answered Oct 11 '12 at 17:35 Moose 411 You can also make this change in the Properties screen of the project. –Guvante Oct 11 '12 at 17:52 add a comment| up vote 3 down vote When you get the error message "Could not get dependencies for project reference", one of the possible cause of the problem should be that you may be ref

Archived Forums V > Visual C# IDE Question 0 Sign in to vote I've just started at a new company. I've gone to VSTS and got the solution containing the website project and a http://stackoverflow.com/questions/863379/could-not-get-dependencies-for-project-reference number of class library projects. The class library projects build ok, but the website gives a number of errors along the lines of Could not get dependencies for project reference 'XXX.YYY.CRM.DataAccess' http://localhost:1400/CRMWebService/ whereXXX.YYY.CRM.DataAccess is the assembly name for a Class library in the solution. The solution builds successfully for others. I know the questions is rather vague, but does anyone have suggestions of where I should investigate? VS2008/C#. Howevera missing strongly named assembly in the GAC can definitely cause issues. When you add a strongly named assembly to a project then the project is (by default) code to that specific version. If you try to compile without that version available then you'll get a compilation error. I'm assuming here that CRMDataAccess relies on a strongly named assembly that wasn't in the GAC. In that case you'd get the error you were seeing. I knew those dependencies were in the solution and there were no run-time problems, so I've just ignored the messages. But, I too wonder why the messages come out and if something can be done to suppress these non-"errors". viktoriad (viktoriad) 2014-05-20 13:36:11 UTC #3 Hello Josef, Unfortunatelly we cannot reproduce the problem here. Could you please send us a simple project that shows the problem? Thanks in advance. josefstadelman (josefstadelmannaxach) 2014-05-26 07:34:59 UTC #4 the question is why does it only show up for dlls made with oxygene?the second question is why does it only show up with larger projects but a smallone as passed to carlo with 2 oxygen build dlls does not show the problem. Also this project which does not show up the problem is located on my drive C: at the desktop, while all other projects showing up the problem
