Network problem in XP! Started by spr168 , Dec 04 2006 11:08 AM Please log in to reply #1 spr168 Posted 04 December 2006 - 11:08 AM spr168 New Member Member 2 posts I am running WinXP SP1. My problem is i can connect to the net thru browser but progs such as WMP are not able to connect saying there is some network problem. So i checked Control Panel>Network Connections. To my surprise it is not showing my DSL network connection thru USB. (its completely blank). Earlier it was fine and used to show the connection . After some research i came to the conclusion that it has got something to do with a service called "Network Connection Service" (C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs) Whenever i go to Control Panel>Administrative tools>services it shows this service is in STOP state. When i try to start it it says "Could not start the Network connection service on Local Computer" "Error 126 : The specified module could not be found" The file svchost.exe is present in the windows\system32 folder and another service called "Network Location Awareness (NLA)" which depends on svchost.exe is running fine. Due to this even though i can connect to net through browser other apps like WMP cant access the net saying there is some network problem. How to rectiify it? Does it require some tinkering with the registry? Thanks for any suggestion!! 0 Advertisements #2 Guest_rushin1nd_* Posted 04 December 2006 - 11:32 AM Guest_rushin1nd_* Guest http://www.snapfiles...nsockxpfix.htmlgive that a try please read the homepage before you try the download 0 #3 sp
