It is installing to Server 2003 with SP2. I am logged in as full Admin. The install is getting an error error 1406 could not write value intuit syncmanager trying to write the reg key for the VersionMajor and the uninstall entry for the same. The error reads: Could not write value VersionMajor to key \\Products\\guid goes here\\InstallProperties. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact error 1406 could not write value productlanguage to key your support personnel. And, of course, I get the Abort, Retry, Ignore buttons as options for the error message. I get the same error message for the key: \\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Unistall\\{guid goes here} There is nothing else running during the install. Have I missed something obvious? I searched the boards and didn't find a reference to this problem. Help! Darren Top sberkovskiy Posts: 3 Joined: Wed Nov 24, 2010 5:38 am Re: Error - Could not write value VersionMajor to key

I can only say that woks fine with TFS.Then also, It is not clear to me which is exactly the problem you are having ... anyway, if IA works fine as standalone, I can only suppose that exist a problem with the tool you are using or with the command line parameters used to run the build process from your tool.Regards Francesco ToscanoInstallAware Software SupportWhite Papers (HowTos) - http://www.installaware.com/publication ... papers.htmPublications - http://www.installaware.com/publications-review.htmInstallAware Help -F1 anywhere in the InstallAware IDE Top sberkovskiy Posts: 3 Joined: Wed Nov 24, 2010 5:38 am Re: Error - Could not write value VersionMajor to key Quote Postby sberkovskiy » Sat Jan 04, 2014 3:54 am Thanks for your reply. The pr

my project into an executable or a DLL and created a distribution kit for it error 1406 could not write value to key adobe acrobat in LabWindows/CVI 6.0. When I take this distribution kit to any Windows computer and try to install it, I receive the error 1406 could not write value solidworks office installed to key following error:Error 1406. Could not write value VersionMinor (or VersionMajor) to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Uninstall\{...}. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.I have the option to abort the installation or ignore http://www.installaware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4568 and continue. When I choose to ignore, the kit seems to install properly, but I cannot avoid the error. Why do I get this error? Solution: LabWindows/CVI 6.0 uses Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) to build a distribution, while earlier versions of LabWindows/CVI used its own native installer builder. Error 1406 occurs when you use any non-numeric character in the product version for the project. Versions of LabWindows/CVI prior to 6.0 allowed you to http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/348CF3130ED04A0386256C1C0070BA28 use text characters in the version number, but LabWindows/CVI 6.0 does not. If you are building an installer from a project that was originally created in an earlier version of LabWindows/CVI, and you used text characters in the Product Version property for your project, then you will get this error. The product version is set before you build your project into an executable under Build Menu»Target Settings»Version Info»Product Version. When setting the Product Version, only numeric characters and certain punctuation marks are allowed. Therefore, product versions such as 1.0 or 5.65 work properly but versions such as 1.a or 3.56 beta do not work properly. This is required for both the Product Version listed under Numeric Information (which does validate that the version format is correct), and the Product Version listed under Text Information (which does not validate that the version format is correct). The Product Version listed under Text Information is the actual version read by the Microsoft Installer and entered in the Windows Registry. If you use a non-numeric character in the product version, the installer generates Error 1406 because it is trying to write this value to the registry in a format that was not originally intended. You can use the File Version field for any non-numeric characters required by your proj
