If not, you'll need to either purchase the same make and model hard drive as the original, or you'll need to purchase a conventional "full version" of Windows XP. http://www.realgeek.com/forums/setupdd-sys-error-code-4-on-install-67190.html -- Nicholas ------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Steve"

Hello, I am trying to reinstall Winxp on my sister-in-laws pc and when first booting from the cd. I am getting the error "error code 4 and cant copy the setupdd.sys, hit any key to exit" I tried 2 different CDs and swapped out the CD-Rom and still no change. Any ideas? This is a new error for me. Thanks, AJ quad4geek View Public Profile Send a private message to quad4geek Find all posts by quad4geek #2 08-23-2005, 01:47 PM Jazz Offline Registered User Join Date: May 2004 Location: London, England Posts: 1,662 Use the following link as a source of reference: - Article ID : 330181 Windows XP problems with damaged or incompatible hardware Also, try reseating and/or replacing the RAM. __________________ An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure Proud Member of the Alliance of Security Analysis Professionals (ASAP) 2006 Jazz View Public Profile Send a private message to Jazz Find all posts by Jazz #3 09-04-2008, 01:41 PM zebedee Offline Registered User Join Date: Sep 2008 Posts: 1 thanks for that Jazz, reseating the RAM worked a treat. zebedee View Public Profile Send a private message to zebedee Find all posts by zebedee #4 09-04-2008, 07:04 PM Jazz Offline Registered User Join Date: May 2004 Location: London, England Posts: 1,662 You're more than welcome. __________________ An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure Proud Member of the Alliance of Security Analysis Professionals (ASAP) 2006 Jazz View Public Profile Send a private message to Jazz Find all posts by Jazz « Previous Thread | Next Thread » Thread Tools Show Printable Version Email this Page Display Modes Linear Mode Switch to Hybrid Mode Switch to Threaded Mode Search this Thread Advanced Search Rate This Thread Excellent Good Average Bad Terrible Posting Rules You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts vB code is On Smilies are On [IMG] code is On HTML code is Off Forum Jump User Control Panel Private Messages Subscriptions Who's O
