not get dependencies for project reference up vote 18 down vote favorite I have a C# solution with a website project and a C# library. When compiling the solution, the website gives the message: Could not get dependencies for project reference 'MyLibrary'.
Could Not Get Dependencies For Project Reference When Publish
This does not stop the wbsite compiling and running until I try and build it with a TFS build, when this error message fails the build. The error was never going away, no matter what I did to clear the builds and such. You can see which is the target framework specified for a project going to the project properties and selecting the Application tab on the left. I'm writing this because it happened to me, i was referencing a project with Target framework 4.0 from a project with

In Debug configuration mode solution build succeeds and the website runs perfectly. when I go to Release configuration, only the projects referenced by the winform project get bin\release\*.dlls created. The ones that are website only do not get built. When I try to publish the website it fails indicating the references do not exist (since the dlls are not created).
