Vagrant Vboxmanage: Error: Could Not Find A Registered Machine With Uuid
participants ashabed commented Feb 16, 2016 One DebugAcademy.com student (using Windows 10) has been unable to get DrupalVM to work. It is working for another student using Windows 7. We are essentially using Vagrant 1.8.2 (I vboxmanage: error: details: code vbox_e_object_not_found copied the dev version from github, and changed the version numbers from 1.8.2 back to 1.8.1, and it worked with the latest virtualbox on windows). That fixed the issue for the Windows 7 users, allowing them to successfully install using the latest DrupalVM and Virtualbox. However, another student who is using Windows 10, the latest virtualbox, Vagrant 1.8.2, and latest DrupalVM continues to get errors. Initially, he was receiving the following code vbox_e_object_not_found (0x80bb0001) error: "The guest machine entered an invalid state while waiting for it to boot. Valid states are 'starting, running'. The machine is in the 'poweroff' state. Please verify everything is configured properly and try again." We then found this discussion ( mitchellh/vagrant#2157 ) and "Went to the C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\drivers\vboxdrv directory, right clicked on VBoxDrv.inf and selected Install. I then went back to my console and typed 'sc start vboxdrv'." We did this as an administrator, in case that is significant. When opening the VirtualBox GUI after running Vagrant up, no machine is listed on the left. Prior to doing the above ^ steps, we did see a machine in the 'offline' state. Afterwards, we keep receiving the error: VBoxManage.exe: error: Could not find a registered machine with UUID.. VBOX_E_OBJECT_NOT_FOUND (picture attached) I installed the extension pack from virtualbox.org, and later uninstalled it. Downgraded virtualbox to the latest 4.* release, let vagrant download virtualbox, etc. No matter what I do I can't get any change in the error message we're seeing. Do you have any advice in terms of what to try next? Maybe VBoxManage is looking in the wrong place for the machine? Also, is VBoxManage.exe always used as part of the set up, or is that something that can be uninstalled?

The command VBoxManage registervm "D:\VirtualBox VMs\itJobFlow\italien.vbox" causes the error "... has the same UUID as an existing virtual machine", which I assume means it's already registered. If that's so, how come the command VBoxManage modifyvm "italien" --pagefusion on causes the error Could not find a registered machine named 'italien'? Thanks, XavierReplyDeleteAnonymousJune 3, 2013 at 10:16 PMThanks man!If someone had the problem "Premature end of data in tag VirtualBox line 8."... try to open the xml file with a editor then save it changing the extension from .xml to .vbox an

I have VirtualBox 4.3.6 r91406 I have VBoxVmService 4.1 I am hosting the VMs on a Windows 7 pro x64 machine. I rebooted many times, I tried to could not change the service account from "local system" to my account which is an administrator. I tried to add my account in the DCOM security properties of virtualbox for activation and execution. My VBOX HOME FOLDER is set to "C:\Users\Pierre.VirtualBox" wich contains the VirtualBox.xml My Virtual machines files (vdi) are on a network drive (W:) Everytime I tried to start the service I get the error message in the title. Any idea?? Thanks a lot in advance for could not find your help, I am really stuck on this one! Regards, Pierre Discussion FB2000 - 2014-02-12 Please post log files, VBoxVmService.log as well as VBoxSVC.log under your .VirtualBox folder. Here is VBoxSVC.log VBoxSVC.log If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link: Pierre - 2014-02-12 And the VBoxVmService.log Please Note that there are some "You need to stop VirtualBox GUI before starting VBoxVmService" errors in it. I do know that the GUI and the service cannot run at the same time, but for some I forgot to kill the GUI before some of my attempts to start the service, but for the last ones I noticed those logs which appeared even if my GUI was already down. It happens after I started the GUI with administrator privileges as the "vboxmanage list vm" wouldn't work. I guessed there was a ghost process or something so I rebooted my machine VBoxVmService.log If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link: FB2000 - 2014-02-12 No VM is found by VBoxVmService according to log, note the line List all the VMs found by VBoxVmService usual
