RE: Error running Java 1.4 on hp-ux 11 jonesq (TechnicalUser) 25 Feb 04 12:29 Hi Alex,Not too sure what your problem is but you can try adding java to your path.export PATH=$PATH:/opt/java1.4/binor/and set JAVAHOME variable.export JAVAHOME=/opt/java1.4I think this should solve the problemRegards,QJ RE: Error running Java 1.4 on hp-ux 11 RanganathRamachandra (Programmer) 26 Feb 04 00:35 further to what QJ said, run chatr on the java executable to check that SHLIB_PATH is enabled. also if you are using patch PHSS_28434 or PHSS_28436, there is a problem in the dld, due to which the dld cannot load libraries even if they exist in the search paths. this bug is fixed in later patches, so you can take the latest patch PHSS_30048 (11.00) or PHSS_30049 (11.11). RE: Error running Java 1.4 on hp-ux 11 RanganathRamachandra (Programmer) 26 Feb 04 00:36 if SHLIB_PATH lookup is not enabled, use "chatr +s enable" on the executable to enable it. To install, I used the following command: yum install java-1.8.0-openjdk-devel.x86_64 This installs java to /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.8.0-openjdk-1.8.0.65-0.b17.el6_7.x86_64, with bin, lib, etc. being in the immediate directory. Even without messing with environment variables, when trying to run this: /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.8.0-openjdk-1.8.0.65-0.b17.el6_7.x86_64/bin/java -version I get the following errors: Error: could not find libjava.so Error: Could not find Java SE Runtime Environment. I'm not actually finding libjava.so in any of the lib directories either. Seems kind of silly that it wouldn't be included with the package.. or maybe there's just another dependency package I'm missing? Any insight here would be very appreciated. centos java share|improve this question edited Dec 27 '15 at 10:01 Archemar 11.8k71848 asked Dec 27 '15 at 8:55 Branden 112 What is your distribution? Have you tried to run java -version? I use Mint and there java is installed in such a way that everything is found through the 'normal' environment variables. –Marco Dec 27 '15 at 9:03 I actually get '-bash: java: command not found' when trying to run java directly. I'm using CentOS 6. –Branden Dec 27 '15 at 9:39 @Branden : why install devel package? install JDk/JRE with this toturial digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/… and run java –Babyy Dec 27 '15 at 10:23 add a comment| active oldest votes Know someone who can answer?
