the sdk\tools\ directory instead of sdk\tools\lib directory as said in Android-open project Issue Tracker. The things you have to do is: First copy all the files starting with lib and having the extension dll from the sdl\tools\lib directory into the sdk\tools\ directory. If you still can't get the emulator working after copying also place the -gpu off option in the command line while executing the command emulator-arm @AVD_name. 'emulator' is used to perform a few checks and modify the library load path, to ensure the GPU emulation libraries are found, among other things. 'emulator-arm' is being called by 'emulator' after this. If you want to call it directly, you will have to modify your PATH (or LD_LIBRARY_PATH) variable before doing so. Alternatively, copying the libraries to sdk/tools/ will have the same effect on Windows (but not other platforms). But all this hackery is not necessary when calling 'emulator'. If for some reason

January 30, 2014 by Barry I needed to launch one of my Android emulators from the terminal recently and I was surprised to see https://mbcdev.com/2014/01/30/could-not-initialize-opengles-emulation-using-software-renderer/ how slow it was, especially seeing as I had enabled host GPU http://askubuntu.com/questions/364980/ubuntu-12-04-andorid-virtual-device-android-virtual-device-not-starting-up acceleration and that the emulator an x86 one with HAXM enabled. I had never experienced any such issues when starting the same emulator from my IDE. The exact error that I received was this: emulator: ERROR: Could not load OpenGLES emulation library: dlopen(libOpenglRender.dylib, 1): image not found could not emulator: WARNING: Could not initialize OpenglES emulation, using software renderer. I had a suspicion that this library may have been lurking in the SDK somewhere so I had a peek and discovered where it was hiding. $ find $ANDROID_HOME -name 'libOpenglRender.dylib' /Applications/Android Studio.app/sdk/tools/lib/libOpenglRender.dylib The solution was to append the SDK's lib path to OS X's LD_LIBRARY_PATH before invoking opengles emulation library the emulator. export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$ANDROID_HOME/tools/lib Naturally you can put this line in your shell's startup script and you won't have to worry about this problem again. I am using Ubuntu 12.04 (x86-64 version) and recently downloaded the adt bundle (adt-bundle-linux-x86_64-20130917.zip) from Android site. Created several virtual devices from eclipse -> Window-> Android Virtual Device Manager. But the virtual devices are not starting When I click start for any of the AVDs, a 'starting emulator' dialog box comes, the loading bar loads fully but nothing starts -- even after considerable wait. Tried to run the emulator (inside sdk/tools) from console:- ./emulator -avd
